If I can fool just one person Wicked, then I've accomplished my goal.
Here's what I have for this week.
While the greenlight has yet to be issued, it looks like ABC and Marvel are going to go ahead with a series based on Agent Peggy Carter and the formative days of SHIELD. Hayley Atwell is set to return to the role. I'm interested to see how this plays out. I'd like to see characters like the Howling Commandos show up. Arnim Zola, Baron Zemo, even Winter Soldier. So many film actors are doing tv these days, get Tommy Lee Jones to come back.
Agent of SHIELD looks to be returning for a second season as well.
The comic series Scalped is going to be adapted for television to air on WGN, a channel I'd never heard of until recently. If you're not familiar with Scalped, here's a synopsis: The story follows an undercover F.B.I. agent named Dashiell Bad Horse, who returns to the reservation to infiltrate a crime organization run by casino boss Lincoln Red Crow, who is also the President of the Oglala Tribal Council and Sheriff of the Tribal Police. Bad Horse is pulled into a world of crime, drug addiction, murder, double crosses, and everything in between as he confronts his own past in the course of trying to solve both old and new mysteries.
Fox and filmmaker Matthew Vaughn will be bringing the comic Superior to the big screen. If you're not familiar with Superior, here's a synopsis: Simon Pooni, an angry, bitter 12-year-old boy suffering from multiple sclerosis, idolizes superheroes, particularly Superior, a Superman analogue. An alien monkey named Ormon appears at Simon's bedside, informing the boy that of all the people on Earth, he has been granted the honor of being bestowed a single magic wish. Simon is then transformed into Superior. After playing the role of Superior for a week, he learns that Ormon is actually a demon incarnate, and he must sell his soul to the devil in order to remain as Superior.
Here's a little
30 second spot for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that has some action spots and the first glimpse of Splinter at about the 12 second mark.
While no film has been officially announced or greenlit, Channing Tatum has confirmed that he has met with producer Lauren Shuler Donner about the possibility of starring in an X-Men spin-off centered on Gambit. A few months ago, Donner revealed that Tatum would be her choice for a potential Gambit film. Tatum has already stated before that Gambit is his favorite X-Man and would love to play the role.
I'll preface this next entry by saying it had the potential to be a massive spoiler, but once the full details came out, that was no longer the case.
There was a big story circulating earlier this week that the X-Men would be featured in an after credits scene of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, despite the two properties belonging to different film studios. While not inaccurate, it has been clarified. Sony is featuring an X-Men: Days of Future Past scene due to contractual obligations between the studio's indie banner, Fox Searchlight, and director Marc Webb. Webb was contracted for a second film after 500 Days of Summer which he left to helm The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequels. To allow Webb out of the deal for a second film, Sony was required to advertise Fox's mutant sequel for free. So there's no crossover, it's basically just going to be a trailer for the new X-Men film after Spider-Man's credits.
And speaking of X-Men, when details of the film were coming out during production, I wasn't too crazy about what I was hearing with all the mutants being shoehorned in. But with each
new trailer that comes out for Days of Future Past, I get more excited for it.
Composer Hans Zimmer, who scored all three of Christopher Nolan's Batman films, will return to score the Man of Steel sequel.
I'll leave you with a couple of things.
Here's a trailer for the upcoming DC animated movie
Batman: Assault on Arkham.
A few years ago, there was a videogame based on The Flash in development for Xbox 360 and PS3, but the company, Bottlerocket Entertainment, went out of business and the game went with it. Here's some
footage of the game with Flash zipping around Central City and ending up in front of a statue that appears to be of Jay Garrick.
