Stan Lee - December 28, 1922 – November 12, 2018

CNN - Stan Lee, the colorful Marvel Comics patriarch who helped usher in a new era of superhero storytelling -- and saw his creations become a giant influence in the movie business -- has died.
He was 95.
Kirk Schneck, an attorney for Lee's daughter, tells CNN the comic giant was taken by ambulance from his Los Angeles home on Monday morning to Cedar's Sinai Medical Center, where he later died. The cause of death is not yet known, according to Schneck.

Without the influence of Stan the Man, the current landscape of comics, movies, and television may have looked drastically different. As a child, I was firmly entrenched in the DC camp. As I got older, found myself gravitating more and more to the world of Marvel. I preferred the Marvel story telling style I suppose and found the characters more relatable than the DC stable. From the comics I embraced as I began my journey into adulthood to the decade of blockbuster films, the lineage can be traced back to Stan Lee. While he did not do it alone, his ideas and visions played a large part in reshaping the landscape of comics and set a standard for others to aspire to.

I honestly thought he would outlive us all. Farewell Generalissimo, and thank you.
