Michael Chiklis (The Shield) will be joining Gotham in season two as Captain Nathaniel Barnes, an original character created for the show.
While Constantine on NBC may have been canceled, the character of John Constantine may live on. Arrow producer Wendy Mercle would love to have to the character appear in season four, pending 'DC politics things' and the actor's (Matt Ryan) schedule.
Mark Hamill will return to voice The Joker in the DC animated film The Killing Joke. Yayyyy!!
One of Guillermo del Toro pet projects for years has been a 'Justice League Dark' film featuring a bunch of characters from DC's mystical side, such as Constantine, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, and Deadman. Recently, he decided to leave the project, giving this reasoning: "Warners liked the script, they were very enthusiastic and wanted to green-light it, but they wanted it to coincide with the shoot of Pacific Rim 2. I was put in a very difficult place facing a difficult choice, and I chose to do Pacific Rim 2."
Of course, Warner Bros. could always sit on it and have del Toro do it in the future if he wants. They have most of their DC films plotted out until 2020 as it is, I say just sit on it and have him do a mystical style Suicide Squad type film sometime early next decade.
del Toro also says that if he were to do Hellboy 3, he'd need about $120 million for it, but no one seems to be in a rush to do it for him. In my opinion, Ron Perlman's already 65, if this is going to happen, something needs to be in place before the decade is out.
Chris Pine (Star Trek, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) has been cast to play Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman.
Ezra Miller was asked if he was avoiding The Flash on CW while preparing to play the role on the big screen: "I'm not avoiding it at all, I think it's awesome, and come on, we're The Flash, it's parallel universes. Grant Gustin is The Flash and I'm The Flash. Don't you see? It's the event horizon, we've crossed it, baby! Grant and I are chilling. We're going to have a race, it's going to be dope, like Jay Garrick and Barry Allen back in the day, it's going to be dope."
The Flash has a release date set for March 28, 2018.
The casts of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad posing as one at Comic Con:
Gambit is set to begin production in New Orleans this October, reportedly with a $154 million budget (damn). However, despite pushing for the film and praising the script, contract negotiations between Channing Tatum and the studio are said to be 'unraveling'. It might all work out, but if not, Fox will have to scramble to fill the lead role.
Some new images from X-Men: Apocalypse have been released:
Storm rocking the mohawk
Nightcrawler
Psylocke and Apocalypse:
Some comic costumes don't translate well to live action. Psylocke looks like she she just stepped out of a comic porn parody. Apocalypse looks like Ivan Ooze from Power Rangers. Maybe it's an early incarnation of the character, but he needs to grow about another six feet and gain five hundred pounds of muscle if he wants me to even start taking him seriously as Apocalypse.
When backlash over the villain's look reached director Bryan Singer, he had this to say: "He'll be very similar to images in the comic. There's obviously something very futuristic and yet ancient to the design of both his costume and his physicality."
Sounds like he just skirted the issue. I'll wait and see if any further details on the character's possible evolution are released before I pass final judgement.
Singer did share a pretty cool shot of one of the film's practical sets:
Evan Peters says a "bigger and better" Quicksilver scene is in store for X-Men: Apocalypse.
The first official trailers for Deadpool drop on August 4th. That is plural as one of them will be a red band trailer. Sweet. The green band should also be attached to Fantastic Four when it releases on the 7th.
The DVD/Blu-Ray release of The Avengers: Age of Ultron drops October 2.
A box set of Marvel's Phase 2 films is set to release by the holiday season. It will contain Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Ant-Man.
This is from the screenwriters of Spider-Man: "I think that everybody feels like, you know he got bit by a spider and you know Uncle Ben died. We probably don’t need to revisit that."
If they touch on Spidey's origins, I hope they just do it Incredible Hulk style in the opening credits and let him get right to the Spider-Manning.
I'll leave you with Chris Pratt displaying who the alpha is...
...as well as a Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers reunion:
