Overrated games.

Pretty much the entire Halo series.

while I agree with you on halo 2-3, halo 1 was probably the best game I have ever played, that being said, I would say the most overrated game I have ever played was Assassins creed. Sure, you feel like a badass, but everything gets so repetitive after a while, I was just trying to finish the shortass game before I had to give it back to blockbuster.

if you played plenty of fps on a pc, which i am guessing ya have, i am inclined to agree with you. halo is indee pretty much standard fare for a fps. brought nothing new to the table. only thing it is remarkable for is for being the first fps console shooter to have tight controls. nothing more. (i also blame halo for the over saturation of fps's. come on game companies, stop making shooter after shooter).

I agree with KRP, Halo 1 is pretty standard. The only thing that really stood out were the characters, but aside from that nothing. The gameplay got very repetetive early on, and the whole Flood thing is what killed Halo 1 for me.

People are critical about Halo 2 and 3 because of the shorth length compared to Halo 1, but Halo 1 was just mindlessly running around Halo structures and canyons for the large part, nothing what really kept the sotry going. At times I felt lost in Halo 1 because I couldn't really remember what was going on at one point aside from a far of objective marker. And to get to that marker, you had to work your way through structure after structure, hallway after hallway. To play Halo 1 again is really a chore compared to the other Halo titles. No, Halo 1 has not aged well I'm afraid.

Still, loved the music though, and the sequels were actually better to me, although they could've just made Halo 2 and 3 into one single game.

As someone mentioned earlier, Far Cry 2, i agree on that one. It's a pretty good game, but all that travelling makes you wanna go on a killing spree. And i dont mean in the game.
Also, the saving system sucks huge nuts. Who wants to spend 10 minutes getting to a safehouse in the middle of a mission. However, if you dont, some random encounter will probably kill you, and you have to start the mission over from the start.

I know it has been mentioned and i dont disagree with the "halo is overrated" argument but GTA4 is probably the most overrated game ever. EVERY game site gave that game a high score. And for what? A game that does everything its prequels have done? they actually took out things that are in past itterations. Online is alright if you love bugs and lag. I mean, at least halo3's multiplayer is an upgrade from its predicessor, GTA4 just has better graphics.
How about sequels in general? They all get crazy hype and ratings because they are sequels to previous hits. No innovation. And sequels to sequels? F*** You game developers! I've made more creativity in the toilet.

Please tell me you don't mean after the first Red Alert? While yes, Generals sucked, C & C 3, RA 2 and 3 and pretty much everything else were awesome. I still play Renegaade online sometimes!

omg, why are there so few people complaining about GTA IV when everyone is complaining about halo 3? halo 3 is awsome. i'll admit halo 2 was better, but halo 3 was still about as good as everyone says.

as for GTA IV, i have never been more dissapointed with a video game in my life. i loved the old grand theft auto's. all of them. i loved playing the first one because it introduced us to jacking cars and shooting people. i loved gta3 because it was like a revolution in video gaming and it was just plain fun, you couldn't argue with that. vice city was an amped up version of gta3 and the city alone was one reason why everyone loved it, the environment totally set a good mood for the whole game. san andreas is probably my favorite of all of them. a lot of people say that in this case, bigger doesnt mean better because san andreas is such a huge game, but believe me, it DOES mean its better. san andreas was pure awsome. even liberty city stories i enjoyed, that was a good game. but grand theft auto IV was nothing short of boring. the story may be good but that doesnt make a good game. for the gameplay, the driving is shit and awkward, there's nothing fun about the combat, the movement of the character is slow which makes it hard not to get hit when people are shooting at you, and the missions just follow EXACTLY the same formula as the old games which is not even close to good enough for the new generation.

the only thing about gtaIV that is better than the old game is the obvious thing, the graphics. everything else is either too similar to the older games or its somehow worse. i dont know how it happened but rockstar screwed up royal. im convinced that they payed critics to praise the game as highly as they did. they cant seriously think its that good

Halo 3, I swear if I hear another friend say its the best game ever because of its "HAW-some multiplayer" and "GREAT STORY!" I'm gonna go mad.

It's been said a million times already, but I'm going to say Halo 3. For the first 8 months I was in love with the game, but then I saw it's flaws, as well as the same bunny hoppin', run and gun stuff over and over again my mind changed about the game for the better. The day I started hating Halo 3 was a sad one for me haha. Oh and I am also going to say Gears of War 2, now don't get me wrong, Horde, and Campaign are fantastic to every extent. But the online is horrible, playing Gears 1 I knew there was lag, but every match I play in has a ridiculous amount, not to mention cheap as hell players. It may be that I suck at online, but when every one is chainsawing, and two-piecing what can ya do?

All these "atmospheric shooters". Yes, the graphics are great, controls are tight, blah blah blah. "Look, one of your comrades was killed by a gigantic alien robot thing, RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU! And it wasn't even a cutscene!" I don't care. Do something interesting or original. And by that I don't mean invent a new cover-system. The entire shooter genre has turned into the fucking Madden series, which also could not possibly die hard enough to satisfy my bloodlust.

Gears of War, Halo, Killzone, Resistance, Far Cry, Crysis, whatever. I'm talking about all of them because they're all miserably guilty.

i agree with this. shooters have become extremely stale and repetitive. none of them push the envelope anymore. you get pretty graphics with standard gameplay, short campaign, and a multiplayer with the same old stale game modes from 1998 for gods sake. and who ever thinks escort missions was a good idea should be shot.

Everybodywould imply everybody in this topic who claimed Halo was over rated, myself included.

I should also note that most people don't dislike it because it's popular. I'm sure most people who dislike it have actually played a decent shooter before the Halo series and realize it isn't worth all the accolades showered upon it.
