All of the other GTAs have featured songs that I know really well; GTA IV has lots of songs I've never heard before, which I really like.
GTA 3 featured a lot of songs that I didn't know at all. With the lack of songs that I'm familiar with, I think I'll give the talk radio more of a listen.

I'm so proud of the soundtrack for GTA IV. It's almost like Rockstar went back to GTA III. For example IV went back to Liberty City and the music in III wasn't so mainstream like VC and SA. It's refreshing to hear new tunes that I've never heard before.
And now that I think about it,3 had a pretty straight foward story with a rather serious story then the over-the-top cartoony feel that VC and SA had.

Here's a good article about the music.

The Journey has to be the greatest radio station ever to appear in a GTA game, though it could have used some more songs. I'm thinking Brian Eno, Biosphere etc etc.

I feel I should also add... (NSFW)

Yeah, "Journey" is my current favorite. It does have a certain "Blade Runner" feel to it. Actually, it would be awesome to have Vangelis' music in GTA games. GTA3 had "Scarface" soundtrack, why not to add "Blade Runner's"?
Maybe it's time for R* to go futuristic and introduce sci-fi elements, to try something different...

Trippy...
