Which got me thinking what is your guys' favorite soundtrack of this year in your guys' opinion? Also, what's your guys' favorite soundtrack of all time? To me, the soundtrack is pretty important to a game since it sets the mood and atmosphere. Also, it's probably all I could remember about a game years later. I could count up your guys' votes and make a list but I'm far, far, far too lazy for that.

Best score of the year? That's easy: Dark Souls. I love conceptual continuity, and this game has a great motif you can hear in pieces throughout a lot of the music I have heard so far. Even the prologue paid homage to the Demon's Souls theme. In my opinion, Demon's Souls did a better job of tying the motif with most of the musical score, (well.... it is more easily identifiable to the ears). You can hear those eerie four notes throughout the entire soundtrack. And that is pretty damn cool.

Honestly, I'm replaying it now, and I really kinda wish I had nominated it for GOTY. It's without a doubt one of the best games this year in just about every aspect.

After listening to the 25th Anniversary Zelda Symphony CD...I have to go with Legend of Zelda. It is almost unmatched in that regard.

But for new games...the past five or so years a lot of games have had standout music. Bastion, Catherine, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Halo, all of them are pretty much new classics in their own right.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Some of the tracks are just downright creepy. But it's really good to listen to on its own, which is usually a good sign in my opinion.

Rayman Origins had some tracks I keep on humming after playing the game, but Professor Layton tops it.
