|OT| Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I'm trying to stay positive about this game, but honestly I wish I could record the last 30 minutes I've been playing against this one dragon. It has literally been "Get hit by unavoidable splash damage. Get grabbed and insta-killed. Reload to 10 seconds earlier. Repeat." When I'm standing BEHIND a dragon, it shouldn't be able to grab me in its mouth and one-hit me.

Stupid broken game.

Regardless, TRIVIA TIME!

Despite being called dragons, the creatures found in Skyrim don't fit with the classical example of the beast. Instead, they are what?

Well they aren't wyrms because they're not serpentine, and they're not wyverns because they don't have separate arms, so I don't know.

Also, I haven't been insta-killed by a dragon yet, but I tried fighting one on a steep mountain that continuously blasted me with his strongest attack, over and over, and never landed or took a break from attacking me. I had saved just before the encounter, and finally he decided to just pass me by after several tries.

That's where you'd be wrong. Wyverns have only a singular set of arms/legs. Another tell tale sign of the wyvern is the spaded tail, which the Skyrim ones also have.

It's a very common mistake in games and movies. I *cough cough* impressed my family by pointing out the ones in the last Harry Potter movie were wyverns and not dragons.

Ah, I see. Pictures like this look confusing:

Having them use their feet like hands makes it seem like they have arms instead of legs.

Alright, so i admit to being too harsh on dragon armor.
It's actually pretty good. Doesn't look the best, but it has a high rating without being too heavy, and i totally enchanted it.
Found 8 plates i had stored in a safe chest in riverwood, made myself a full set and upgraded it all. Even made the helmet and shield, despite the fact that i'll never use either.
I roll with Volsungs mask and flames in my left hand. At all times.

Also, i killed him on my first attempt with no frost resistance at all, the game on Adept, and with an uncharged Eduj instead of my more powerful (charged) flame glass sword.
Why do people have so much trouble? Do they not invest in upgraded armor and play on the hardest setting or something?

^ Where are the other Dragon priests? I only have Krosis and Morokei :(
Plus I fugure there'll be new words to learn wherever they are.

Flames? Really? That sucks so hard, though.

And the reason why I think a lot of people are having trouble is because the combat is more or less dependent on how much damage you can tank out, since there's so many unavoidable attacks. So if you don't invest in smithing and armor, you're fucked. Or at least at a big disadvantage.

I suck with armor, I just play a sneaky-sneaky character. Max out stealth, good times. Also, just back stab and stealth bow shot anything. I'm having no trouble at all, even with dragons. They're challenging but in a good way. My smithing is like... 24? And my armor 30.

I purposely didn't level up smithing...and while i'm not super powerful...I at least can dish out most of it with my conjured Dremora Lord.

Yeah, next play through I think I will try it without touching smithing or enchanting because when you level them up and get some perks they become just insanely over powered.

Full set of Daedric armor and Warhammer upgraded to legendary and jewelery all double enchanted makes 99% of the enemies I've run into trivial.

I actually did have to use a potion when I ran into my first ancient dragon yesterday, but then later ran into a regular dragon and punched him to death just for the hell of it.

Yeah, I one-hit a dragon with a sword, and I'm not even done with my enchanting yet.

Two-handed is much more powerful than one-handed, but I need the one hand for magic. Though I got my first Soul Trap enchanted weapon, so maybe not anymore.

What's the easiest way to level enchanting? Mine's only like 24 right now, and I'd like to enchant my heavier armor with my Master Destruction Robes enchantments....

Get a whole lot of Iron Ore. Transmute it all into Gold Ore, and make it into a bunch of Gold Rings. Then enchant all of the gold rings and sell them. Or do the same with iron daggers. They sell for a ridiculously high price, so you make a huge profit while you do it.

Also, get The Black Star. There's no reason not to.

I personally find you're over powered either way. Gear doesn't seen to make a huge difference to me. Everything goes down easy either way. This isn't an ooh brag I'm better than you post. My girlfriend can barely move around and still manages to one shot everything when it swings into view with a lucky hit.

The game is just too easy and combat is too linear. Amazing game, but I think that is the reason I haven't touched it in a week. Just got bored fast.

coughcoughTryDarkSoulscoughcough

Though I agree completely. As I've said before, combat is just tank tank tank while you whack with a weapon and/or use summons. It's impossibly not to just tank because so many attacks will hit you regardless of where you are due to messed up hitboxes.

I admit this is true about being a tank and all the flaws about this game but I still enjoy the hell out of it got about 45 hours into it.
Although I did probably enjoy dark souls a little more because it was more of a challenge.... I like challenges.

Gear by itself might not make a huge difference, but once you factor in perks and enchants I think it makes a world of difference. My point was that the gear itself wasn't over powered, but once you improve and enchant it, it becomes crazy. That's why I was saying in my next play through I would leave the smithing and enchanting alone so maybe it would feel a little more like a challenge. Quick example...

Improved & enchanted:

And those are just 2 pieces. Everything I am wearing is crazy like that. Ring & necklace gives me 45% fortify two-handed and 28% magic resistance on EACH piece. Very OP.

I need to max out my Enchanting. And get an item that allows me to do Fortify Smithing enchantments.

Right now I'm using dragon bone simply because it's so easy to make and I plan to dump it when my enchanting is higher.

Yeah, I saw a video of a guy who made a Daedric Bow with all fortify smithing enchanted gear and it ended up at like +2500 damage stock...
