without Super Mari Bros. There would be no Nintendo.
Are you sure about that? You're saying all the money for r&d that went into the NES was entirely done for the purposes of launching SMB?

Well, think of it this way. Nintendo as we know it is successful because of Super Mario Bros. The first Mario Bros. game was a flop, we all know it, but it was the innovations used on the second game which catapulted Nintendo to be top dog after the crash in the eighties.

So, Super Mario Bros. is what brought video games back from the dead, and pretty much began what we have now, the second golden age and the 3-D era's, etc.

64 was innovative because it showed how developers could make a game in full 3-D, but we may not have gotten that far if it wasn't for Super Mario Bros to pretty much be the most successful game on the system that revived Video Games in the west.

Super Mario 64 is winning.

Super Mario Bros is second place just one vote away

Super Mario Bros 3 pulls in at third

Lost levels gets a pity vote

and everyone else is cumin in zeros.
