Choose Your Own Adventure

a shaving implement, a broken unreliable gun with just a couple shots or a blunt object that could incapacitate and/or blind a pursuer...

EDIT

Maybe the glorns are gigantic catlike beings that will be distracted by the laser razor.

Just Another Day Part 11

The boy grabbed the bag of sand and loosened the cord. Then he threw it at the Glorn, dumping its contents in the air. It made a reddish cloud in front of the beast. Confused, the Glorn slowed its approach. The girl must have felt the same way. "YOU'RE GOING TO KILL IT WITH A BAG OF SAND?" "No," the boy replied, "but I am going to slow it down." With that he pulled out the blaster and turned it on. BEEE-ooooo...the blaster started and then stopped, a red light blinking above the grip. "Damn, work you stupid piece of junk!" The beast, finally realizing that it was just sand, started forward through the cloud. The boy hit the blaster with his palm and tried again. BEEEEEEEE-ZZZZT! A blast shot forward. When it reached the cloud there was a blinding flash. The boy turned his head and the girl shrieked. Blinking away the light, he looked at the howling, writhing Glorn. "It's called blooming," he calmly explained, "when the laser hits the sand, the energy spreads out and superheats it." White-hot sand glowed all over the front of the beast and the smell of charred hair and skin filled the small room. "Let's go," the girl pleaded. "Just one last thing," he said. Then he shot a pipe to the side of the Glorn. A mist of gas filled the room and the two could see the sand cooling and hardening, locking its limbs in place. The boy left the blaster hanging in the air and the still howling Glorn stared angrily as the boy disappeared into the vent. As the two scrambled through the ducts, they heard something coming from a grill up ahead. Blaster fire and shouting.

Let's get the fuck out of here.

I was going to say investigate but we're already investigating.
Perhaps we can do some on hands investigating? To make up for that interruption.

Just Another Day Part 12

Glorn don't use guns, they prefer a more personal approach. So that meant humans. For the first time today, the boy felt true relief. Outside the grill he saw four men with their backs to him. Further down the hall was a pack of Glorn staying under cover. "Keep a surpressing fire, we just have to hold this for five more minutes!", shouted an older man, "when they're back we can get to the escape pods." Escape pods! The boy smiled back at the girl. "Do you recognize any of them? Can they be trusted?," he whispered. "Him, he works in the engineering area. I would see him in the mess." That was all he needed to hear. He pused the grate out and the men swung there weapons around. "Don't shoot!", the two cried. "How did you get in there?", the older man questioned. But the moment of distraction was exactly what the Glorn needed. With a bellow, the Glorn launched themselves toward the group. The older man grabbed the boy and the girl and shoved them down the sidehall. "GO! End of the hallway. We're waiting on another group. If we're not there in three...go." Gunfire erupted and the boy and girl leapt from wall to wall, fleeing as fast as they could. When they reached the door, the boy glanced back. The men were still firing as howls grew closer and louder. The man was still yelling. "Hold!" The girl had already gone in by the time the boy had turned back. The room was small. like a closet with three doors on the walls. Two doors were already sealed. Escape pods don't have much. There's blankets, rations and a simple nav computer to get you to safety. Other than that, there were eight seats. The girl was seated at the end, as far from the door as possible. The computer was on the wall next to the door. In giant green letters was the word LAUNCH. Eyeing the word, the boy asked, "How long has it been?"

Escape now.

Wait.

If those guys are there, how would we be able to continue from where we left off? But if we meet up with the other escapees, the female would squeal and we'd be lynched.
But they have guns, and guns are good.

We wait for the guns, as she'd approve and would be easier to seduce later on.

Just Another Day Part 13

It hadn't been that long, and the boy knew those men deserved better. So instead he stepped away from the launch button and made his way over to the girl. "I sure hope that other team shows up soon." She nodded her agreement. "I never did ask your name," he continued. She smiled, "it's Lane...and yours?" But as he started to respond, the door opened with a whir. "Did everybody make it," he asked as he got to his feet. There was no response. "Hello?" he edged forward trying to see around the corner. Like a flash of light, a long muscular arm shot into the cabin. Razor sharp claws dug into a seat just to the right of the boy. He pushed backwards as far as he could until he collided with the girl. The arm retreated back. The boy had to hit that button. As he crept forward again, the arm shot forward again, tearing apart everything in it's path. That's when the boy noticed it. The arm was covered in crystalized sand. "I beat you once, I can do it again."
