And again, I think C_nate really shows why this problem exists. There will always be low ranking workers to fill in for you if you quit, so employers think they can treat you in whatever way they want to. It's terrible and it's bullshit, but it's also true. You have to put up with a lot that you shouldn't have to to hold on to your job, and it's rare to actually see an employer get hit in the face for this type of shit.
It can't hurt that she found another job before bringing the suit against this asshole.... and it's true. C_Nate wins it. It's unfortunate but with the job market the way it is, people are bound to feel threatened and unsafe in these situations, thus less action will be taken.

I wouldn't blame the job market necessarily, but the attitude and hypocrisy that Wardell showed is fairly transparent. The dude is basically a jerk more than a guy who is using his power to hold domain over people.

That's the shame of it all, people will continue to be afraid to do anything for their own selfish reasons, and while that isn't right, it is certainly understandable. Dealing with it or quitting, however, are not the only two options to solve the problem. Unfortunately so many people see it in that light because they still want a paycheck, so they tough it out. It's a vicious circle and it will probably stay that way, at least in some places, but that doesn't mean that this sort of behavior shouldn't be rooted out whenever possible.
