A few years back when i was in Bangkok i ate some fried crickets that was seasoned with fish sauce. Tasty. The deep fried scorpion however, was.... crunchy to say the least.
Speaking of which, here are my photos from my recent trip (the last 7 days) in Bangkok.
Unfinished building? Hell! Turn it into advertisment! Drape a singleat/wife beater over it!
Now, for those following the news you might know that there have been a month long protest in the heart of Bangkok and that it got pretty serious in the 48 hours. We were driving to lunch when we ran into a roadblock (that part of the city was basically under the protestors control) and this is what we faced, after coming out of a one way street.
Anyway, these protestors were pretty organized and soon started clearing the street to let us through (and get back to their protesting). Its pretty darn hot in the country now, hence the water gun and its actually the start of Songkran, the festival where basically its one big ass water fight.
And of course my grandmother decided she had to take a photo infront of the propoganda truck that reminded me of the unit in C&C Generals. Actually there were a bunch of trucks lined up the whole demonstrating area with loud hailers that the protest leaders were speaking, from somewhere else though.
Anyway, moving on to some... ???
Yesterday (Sunday) i was getting a foot massage (which is awesome btw) when half way my grandmother called and told my dad and I that the shit hit the fan and the protestors crazily decided to try and raid the 1st Army HQ and its adjacent barracks. So yep, Govt decides their sick of this shit and its when the tear gas and rubber bullets start firing. These guys in the truck are on their way to the fight. They closed down the subway and you could jsut hear protestors all along the city driving here and there to the scene, along with a mix of ambulances and police.
So, a most busy week in Bangkok. Last i heard, 19 people were killed including over 500 injured (a mixture of armed forces and protestors).
