I live in the other state with gay marriage, it was first passed by the courts and later upheld by the state legislature. Some people called foul because now them queers can marry each other and we (the voters) never had a say in it (i.e. fascism). But f. that yo. Two consenting adults in a loving relationship aren't hurting anyone by getting married.

I know free speech is good and all, but a commercial like that should be considered racism in some form, kind of like the old Church of Latter Day Saints commercials. I mean, it is demeaning an entire group of people, who may not be a racial group, but are a group, a community, none the less.

It makes my blood boil to hear these people use the free speech argument. People play the "free speech" card as an excuse and don't even appreciate the right. They abuse it and act like they're being deeply wronged whenever they feel it is mildly violated. Meanwhile, in the same context, people are being treated differently under the law. Who the fuck are these people to tell others how to live, instantly assuming they're better, wiser, more normal.

It really makes me sick, and whoever voted yes better start explaining themselves. I like to be objective in debates, and when I say I respect people's opinions, I mean it. I'm honestly not sure I can truthfully say that here. It's bigoted, irrational, impertinent, childish, condescending, and regressive.

I think the other people who voted yes are worried about being bashed by everyone else, since you guys all seem to have voted no. Despite picking the middle option, I'll give reason. I'd vote yes. Alot of people don't want gays to be married so they don't get the rights afforded to couples. I'm less concerned about that, as I feel homosexuality is just plain wrong. I believe marriage should only exist between a man and woman. If gays want the same rights, we should give them the rights, but instead of being "married" they'd be "butt-buddies". Instead of man and wife, they could be "butt-buddies". This isn't the same as racial or sexuality equality, so I think that that comparison is foolish. It's not "old-fashioned", it's correct. Blacks being slaves was wrong, not "old-fashioned". Yeah, I'm probably homophobic, but more than that it is simply immoral in my view.
