Does "Terminator Salvation" look like a good addition to the Terminator series?

Whenever I think of T3, I die a little inside.

This movie looks good though. Now that I've finally been able to accept that they completely raped the story's message in T2. I might check this out.

Who knows, it could be good? I always did enjoy the future battle scenes in the old terminator flicks. Remains to be seen how far optimism is gonna carry me on this one though, heh.

UK Trailer > US Trailer

Much better paced. It's possible to not know what the movie is until he reveals his name "John Connor" whereas the US trailer just jumps into it saying the year and judgement day.

It looks very good, better then I was expecting.

Seeing this one the day it comes out.

I need to see the first two Terminators. I mean, I've "seen" them, in the sense that my eyes have looked at T-1000 and Arnie and been like ,"Oh, this is Terminator." But I've never really watched them in my adult years, nor can I recall them being very great when I saw them as a kid.

Don't hate.

I'm excited for Salvation regardless because I'd watch Christian Bale bake bread.

Used, go watch T2 right now. You don't even have to watch the first one. In fact I'll explain it to you.

Arnie bad, he's a robot, he came from the future to kill Sarah Conner. Her unborn son will lead the human race into war against the robots. Arnie failed, he got crushed but his arm didn't.

Now that you're caught up go watch T2 right now!

I have no doubt that T2 will always remain best of the series.

This looks good, but I'm still on the fence. For starters, I've become a big fan of The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and quite frankly, the lack of Glau-Bot in Salvation is disturbing.

Yeah, I need to rewatch them aswell. I've seen T2 more recently and it was still awesome. It's one of the best past action movies around. The special effects still largely stand up today.

I remember falling asleep whenver I tried to watch T1 as a kid. I'm pretty sure I eventually saw all of it, but it wasn't was great as the 2nd.

I can remember being scared shitless after seeing Terminator 2, mainly because I watched it as a 12 year old kid on VHS, August 25th 1997, exactly 4 days before Judgement Day. Needless to say, I didn't really believe the world would end, but the next 4 days were very thrilling to me.

On one hand, I really wish they would stop after T2, T3 was horrible. On the other hand, I'm really excited to see they are going back to the roots of Terminator, the man vs machine theme that made the first movie worth watching. Seeing 2 terminators beat eachother up while John Connor hides in the corner waiting to be escorted or killed by the winner got really lame really fast.

Yeah I'm kind of nervously excited about both the new Terminator movie as well as the new Star Trek movie. The new Star Trek one could be really, really bad. I don't recognize any of the actors for one thing. I also don't trust Hollywood to stay true to the source material. The new Terminator is what I've been wanting for a while now, a movie set in the post-apocalyptic future, after Skynet has taken over and the resistance is in full swing. As long as they have plenty of action (this is Terminator after all) and keep the dialog to a necessary minimum, I'll probably be happy.

Why so serious about the whole "canon"? The Terminator movies are, at their core, enjoyable action films. The first two had a closed story because that's how James Cameron wrote them. T3 was solely an attempt to squeeze some more cash out of the story, even if it didn't quite fit. I enjoyed the third movie because it was good action. It's what I enjoy most about these movies.

As for T4, It looks gritty, and full of action again. And as a bonus, Cristian Bale is in it. It'll be great. Who cares if it doesn't quite fit with the first two?

IMO Terminator ended with part 2, but the fact that they hired Christian Bale to be John Connor got me interested, and that trailer looks good. However we're talking about a guy who calls himself McG.

McG's got a mixed track record. Charlie's Angels was pretty terriable. I wouldn't say OC and Gossip Girl were bad because I'm obviously not who they were targeting with it but Supernatural is pretty damn awesome.

I'm thinking this could turn out good. Christian Bale should be good in this.

Well, the point was a series reboot with young new actors from which they could build a franchise.

But really, you're telling me you've never heard of Simon Pegg?

There was some sort of Transformers vibe going on in the trailer I saw, at one point it seemed as though John Connor was going to fight Megatron the Massive Machine instead of the hordes of regular terminators that were so iconic in the future images of the first movies.
It definetely looks watchable, even if Christian Bale subtly suggested that working on the film was just okay, like it might not be that great... If you pay attention to random press nonsense.

Still plan on watching it though, and hoping it puts the part of my brain that remembers the third film and its self-ribs and minor-spoofs into a permanent catatonic state.

How much an actor enjoys a role doesn't mean it's a bad film. Just not fun to shoot.

It will be interesting, much better trailer then dragonball.
