If you've never read Madman now is a good time to start. Image is reprinting all of the previous releases in new trades. It's like a classic comic mixed with great philosophical rhetoric. Mike Allred writes and draws the thing and his wife does all his coloring (since Mike is color blind). He has a very clean retro style that I really dig and his plots are phenomenal.
I also recommend his run on X-Force(which turns into X-Statix later)
