Well, Desmond does come from a long line of Assassins. My biggest hope is that in the 3rd game, you play as Desmond who has collected powers of the Assassins from Altair and the new guy(?) and you play in an urban environment.

That would be cool, but I would be equally excited for them to milk the "playing in the past" dynamic. It would be ace if they had entire games devoted to going back into a thief's memories to play as another ancestor thief in say, late 19th century London, the wild West, World War II, modern day/urban setting (this could be Desmond like you said). It would just be the perfect excuse to add new gameplay elements and settings.
