What are ya playing?

Agreed on the Red Faction Guerilla thing. Not at all compelling. The destruction physics were amazing, but there wasn't much worth doing.

I pretty much kept doing the story missions so I'd have more to destroy. Sacking the bases and smashing up cities was fantastic, and I'd mostly just spend my time thinking of new, creative ways to smash up buildings.

It really was just Mars House Lumberjack: The Game though.

Depends on if you like the sandbox style adventure games a la Red Faction Guerrilla or GTA 4...Except for in Just Cause 2 you can pretty much do ANYTHING you can think of...

Police helicopter firing his minigun at you? Hijack it in flight! Driving around and see someone you don't like? Hook him to your car and drag him around for a while

Have you ever played the game Mercenaries 1 or 2? Well, it's pretty much what Mercenaries 2 SHOULD'VE been like.

For the record, Mercs 1 is one of the best sandbox games of all time. Just sayin'.

If someone argues with that statement they have no soul

RF:G I really liked but the missions were very tiring and annoying to play if it wasn't for the awesome destruction feature would of lost interest fast. For some reason getting a car, throwing C4 on it then driving it into an occupied building running and out exploding the C4 and watching the building crumble never got old... It's def one of those sandbox games where it's fun depending on how creative you play out things in the game.

Similar to Just Cause 2 the campaign is nothing special, it's not game of the decade or spectacular but it's a game that there's some much potential and if you get creative you'll have tons of fun. There kind of is a feeling of ending possibilities because there is a lot to do but it might feel the same but if you add variety it can feel fresh. For example tired of just driving into a base and shooting up? Do something new like stealing a 747 and crashing it into the ground turning it into a huge missile while bailing before impact. Seriously check it out it's.... man now I want to play Just Cause 2 now...... really bad.... Well I'm playing Crysis 2 right now still, singleplayer is awesome and the multiplayer is actually pretty good for a game that isn't a multiplayer focused game.

So true. That's one of the things I love about Just Cause 2, it's so over-the-top that you don't even need to arm the car like you do in GTA or RF, etc, you just dive out of the car and it explodes on the first contact with anything solid. It's hilarious. It reminds me of how you think it works when you're a kid.

I'm about 8 hours into JC2 and I have done a total of 3 missions, ie one stronghold mission for each gang and I'm currently doing the first agency mission.

Anyway, since we're on the subject, here would be the greatest sandbox game ever. The missions/variety of San Andreas, the openness/gameplay of Just Cause 2, and the mechanics (ie airstrikes and disguises and faction respect) of Mercs1, plus the ability to destroy everything a la Mercs and RF:G. Bam, best game ever.

Agreed, Longo.

Started playing Star Trek: Online again. It has been mildly addicting these past few days. Then again, I am a sucker for MMOs.

I'm 27ish hours into JC2. Finished the story and looking at about 45% completion.

It's the Just Cause 2 fan club up ins here.

GRians now account for 100% of the people still playing it.

OK, I have to Just Cause 2.... I'll be back here when I've got it.

Hooray for peer pressure! I went through the same thing when a couple of buddies of mine got WOW late last school year and kept talking about it and I couldn't take it anymore and just bought myself a copy and a 3 month subscription. Worth it? Not really, there's a level of shame playif WOW in a dorm in your first year of college and keepin it as secretive and someone would with their porn collection

Longo if the game companies made a open world game with all of that lights would shine from the heavens because that game would be a gift from God. I think open world games are successive because they, this is cheesy, but let us let loose our imagination or how wonderworks says it "let your imagination run wild". Like in GTA "let's see what happens when you fly to the top of a building spawn a car and drive off" in RF:G "why shoot those men when I can blow up the building they're in" and on Just Cause 2 "I MUST HIJACK ANYTHING AND EVRYTHING!!" *said in a loud maniac shout while foaming from the mouth... A lot of companies mock the genre with their mediocre titles but don't realize open world doesn't mean a open world to move in but also the choices we can make, the way we can approach the ge but ultimately how we can manipulate and do things you normally can't do in other games... Or at least that's what I think

Because there's 400 cities to 100%, plus races and whatnot.

And as of now I'm 11ish hours in and have done 3 more small missions. ie, I assassinated 3 people. By crashing jumbo jets into them.

And then I went and destroyed an oil rig. By crashing a jumbo jet into it.

Also, I've been playing a lot of MvC3, which is also fucking amazing by the way. It's on par with Tatsu, simply because Galactus is a douche, knocking it down some. My typical team is Iron Man, Deadpool, Wesker, though I'm thinking of changing one of them. I wish I could play online, but whatever.

Yeah I know. I'm still slowly chipping away at it. Perfect game for a lazy weekend.
