I actually think that the innovation tha Nintendo brings is too daunting for the big studios who want to just pump out turd upon turd. Ultimately the need to make a D and D styled game where the guy with tablet is the DM. It could be a port of Descent the board game for all I care. Just saying its the most innovative.

It is 100% backwards compatibile with Wii games, but not gamecube as the Wii was. All Wii controllers work on the Wii U as well. Plus you're playing Wii games at their highest possible resolution (without using the Dolphin emulator though) at 480p.

The Wii U had a rough launch, updates are a bitch, but once you get beyond that and once more software shows up for the system it's a pretty good console.
