"Xbox - play Halo...."

"Xbox - play Halo: Combat Anniversairy..."

"Xbox - are you fucking kidding me?!"

For all the problems la noire has I'm really enjoying it. I'm glad every game isn't like it but I'm glad there is a game like this.

Have you gotten to the homicide desk yet?

Every desk is more interesting than the Homicide Desk, which is a poor bit of pacing. I really enjoyed the "twist" in gameplay near the end though. 3/5 game to me, though.

I'm in the middle of the first Ad Vice case.

If I was going to sum up my LA Noire thoughts, I'd say I feel the same way about it that I did Portal. Great gameplay mechanic done masterfully that I've never really seen before, and I hope one day they put that mechanic in a better game.

In a 'the cases are considerably less fun to play' sort of way, or a 'I got tired of the gameplay after homicide' sort of way?

Yeah, the twist towards the end of the game caught me off guard and didn't seem to fit the character at all. And by the end of the homicide desk, I was seriously begging the game to stop being so repetitive. Yes, the gameplay itself isn't that varied, but the different cases were interesting. Homicide has a real sameness to it that put me off in a major way. Arson really isn't much better.

I'm still waiting for the story twist to hit. There's obviously something going on here. I'll be there soon.

Anyway, if the interrogation/clue finding gameplay mechanic could be put into a game that didn't have so many other big problems that'd be incredible. That's what I want.

Is anyone else a little entertained by HK's gibberish? I sure as hell am.
Was he quoting someone?

Just turning the tales of Gould, my Deep Elf/Fire Elementalist of Vehumet into words. And the tales I could tell of the starving Ball Noggles in his trip from Zot to Pan and the desperate search for food in a Ziggurat with 20 Int and a capped Spellcasting. That would be paragraphs.

Roguelikes spawn great stories. I have been playing the Doom Roguelike since it got the graphics update. It's fun.

Been a while since I played Doom Roguelike, think it was still in the ASCII phase. Never won a game but I remember a level where you got a half level and if you break down a wall, there was shitloads of Barons on the other side. That was fun.

If I could take screenshots of the console version of Stone Soup, it'd be every unique I come across getting chunked by Orb of Destruction. Urug, one shot. Nessos (Centaur with Poison/Fire arrows), one shot. Aizul, four shots. Or five, kept on falling asleep and Poison Arrow, dude's a fiend. All ranged attackers of high caliber mid-game and all I feasted upon from their scattered chunks of flesh.

Just got to the LA Noire plottwist (the switch from Vice to Arson) and **** you game. Wtf is that ****.

Yeah, i know, right? I was like, WTF COLE PHELPS! THAT IS NOT WHO YOU ARE! NOT WHO YOU ARE!

In hindsight the game tries to set up the twist (Cole never talks about his marriage, he visits the jazz club a few times for no particular reason) but still, if he's trying to atone for his cowardice in the war then he should be past that shit.

I have to agree, this is what detracts a huge amount from the game. Still liked it...probably more than most of the people on here.

Yeah, it's a weird turn for that character. Cole is basically a sociopath though. It all sort of unravels as you look back at it.

I really loved playing as Jack though.

It's probably because I'm a crazy right-winger but I find adultery to be pretty heinous. Now I have a hard time rooting for Cole. Oh well.

I think most normal people do. It's funny that he gets pegged for it though, because pretty much everyone else is guilty of bad shit.
