Yes, the 1992 arcade brawler was perhaps the most vicious game to come out, with some animated brutalities attached it caused quite a stir. Many gamers contest that MK 2 was perhaps the best game in the series (i'm one of them.) and while Mortal Kombat has gone through the most radical changes out of all the games on this list (some for the worst, in particular the past few games being very lackluster as Midway began to crumble.) Mortal Kombat has earned it's place as one of the best known fighters out there, and among the "BIG FIVE" of fighting games.

Oh, MK, despite not even being close to my favorite fighter, I have so many memories. I still love how they used live actors over backdrops! I remember riding my bike to the 7-11 to play this game and how pissed my mom was when my dad bought the bloodless SNES version.
