It all depends on the type of game it is. The CoD franchise has ruined almost any other FPS for me simply based on how the game 'feels' when playing it ... hard to explain. For example, I loved the first Far Cry and when the Far Cry 2 came out I could not play it for the life of me simply because the movement felt way too stiff compaired to CoD. The same went for Bioshock 2. Games that I know are epic but I cannot stand the 'gameplay'.
Same goes for the GTA series along with Red Dead Redemption, love the games (and I still play RDR) but I find myself flipping at the fact that good ol John M. has to do a complete circle turn to go the other way.
