Game development tools

Hi, i'm thinking about designing "indie games" and then distribute them over the internet. Thing is, i'm wondering if any of you know if there is any game development tools distributed over the internet (or otherwise) that I can use to design games.

By 'distributed over the net' do you mean free? If thats the case, then i dont think there are any.

But if you meant 'distributed over the net' as in torrents, then sure, theres bound to some tools.
