F*cking USPS

F*cking USPS! So, I was able to purchase a video capturing device. I live in an apartment building whereas mailboxes are outside all connected to each other. Anyways, I was waiting for the package to arrive and I realized the package couldn't fit inside my mailbox. So, I called USPS and asked what would happen if that were the situation. They told me they would leave a pink or yellow slip telling me the package was too big and to go to the post office to pick it up if this is this were to happen. So, I decided to sleep, because I was sure this was going to happen. Well, I woke up and check the delivery status. It informed me the package was delivered. The package was too big too fit, but I didn't get any pink or yellow slip. Instead, I go outside to find it sitting on the mailboxes where it could easily get A.) Damaged by weather and B.) Someone could easily stole it. I'm just lucky I was able to get it before anything happened to it.

Does your parcel deliverer do anything that might piss you off?

Yeah I've had things stolen from me. But then again I lived in Brooklyn, and these things happen in Brooklyn.

my father worked for UPS, and I did a summer placement there, I can assure you that it's a shit service, and it's not the drivers fault, but the company policies

they have to average a delivery a minute, or they face being written up, while you can rationalize it that a business will get multiple deliveries instead of one, thus making that quota easier, however, figure how long it takes to travel down the street, park the truck, open the back, locate the box in question (they have t0 sort it on their own time, so if they don't sacrifice 30-45 minutes a morning of unpaid time, it's a clusterfuck in the back) walk up, buzz the recipient, get a signature, and get back in the truck on their way to the next one, there's no way you can average a package a minute

because it's a well paying job, it's in high demand so they're always a threat of being cut, so yeah, I'd fucking wedge your package off to the side and say fuck it

they also get in shit for bringing packages back, over a certain number and they get written up, over all it's an immensely stressful job

USPS =/= UPS

Leave a note in your mailbox (even a post-it note) that says to leave your package with the apartment lobby/office. Your apartment people will surely accept on your behalf and hold for you. Let them know you're expecting a package ahead of time. And be grateful for neighbors without sticky fingers.

stuff like this, it all depends on the mail carrier.

This just prove the g'vement is a socialist one! Bring back the gold standards!

...oh and what Chris said

I've had neighbors bring packages over to my place because the mail carrier left it in their box. Totally pisses me off.

I have a PO box now though.

Yeah, I'll get things from Canada Post that are clearly marked DO NOT BEND, and those jerks will shove that thing in like origami. It should fit into our regular mailbox, so I dunno... I figure it must be similar to the UPS situation, but if it is, then it (their policy) sure is biting them in the ass, since they're replacing everything that gets damaged due to their negligence.

I don't feel particularly uncomfortable with parcels being left outside, but perhaps if I knew that it was something valuable, I would think otherwise. People are generally pretty nice here.

I love UPS. They never ruined any of my packages. Plus, the UPS here in my area comes and knocks on your door first.

What? When were you living in NYC? I grew up in Queens. When I go visit my family back home I'll be sure to take you out to all the best orgy spots! I dunno what your orgy rules are but under no circumstances must our dicks touch.

Oh we're talking about deliveries... Yeah I don't have any problems.

it's a Postal Service deal. If a UPS or FedEx package is put into a mailbox, some mail carriers will take the package and throw it into the mail to be handled bin where it goes back to the sender for correct paid postage. so, yeah, they send it back through the mail to amazon.com or whomever and make them pay for the postage because it was in the mailbox...in any event, the package was delayed.

But some mail carriers are cool and don't care. It all depends.
