That really sucks. But there is a purpose to this thread besides that; what do the folks of the forum think about eminent domain, and how about those across the pond; what are the laws there?

I disagree with the court rulings here. Eminent Domain should only be used if the property is going to be used for a public deal. The corruption that can otherwise crop up makes the kind of use described in this article abhorrent.

I'm for compulsory purchase (its name here), especially in the context of land like golf courses for the rich and twatty that could be lots of parkland for families and nature. Also, nationalisation needs to happen occasionally in this dire society.
