Oh and this is a "E.A is the worst corporation in America" talk here. Since everyone is raging about it on the front page, might as well start some flames here too.

Protip: EA got voted worst company in america because it's not just in america.

BoA fucks over America, Comcast fucks over America, Ticketmaster fucks over America, EA fucks over the world.

Now you need to combine that with the fact that EA is messing with peoples leisure time. In the US, you expect the banks to be the ultimate evil. It's expected of them to harass you when you miss a payment by a day and send a shitton of letters. You sit down at your console or PC to play a video game to get away from that shit, and then EA shovel origin and microtransactions down your fucking throat. You expect to get raped when you buy concert tickets - they're expensive as hell, and a pain in the ass to get if you chose the print option. The same way that you expect to be frustrated and tired from trying to get through the TSA. So maybe after the 3 hour security you want to sit down on your laptop and play some simcity. Except the airport doesn't have free wi-fi.
Getting home from that concert that was cancelled for some reason, and after an hour or trying to get a refund, you just want to mellow and relax. So you try to play an online game, remembering to make sure mics are muted. Only remembering after you put the disc in that you bought the game used and it has an online pass.

All these reasons and more are why EA is the worst company, not in america, but in the world. Literally the only worse company would be one who makes toilets that make annoying noises every time you take your morning shit. Humanity has advanced to such a place where our entertainment is exceptionally important. Some people only have perhaps 1 hour a day in which they can relax, and a good chunk of humans chose to play video games for that time. So for EA to be the shitsacks that they are and cut into that time through their incompetence and greed is infuriating, and potentially even dangerous. The human mind can only take so much tedium before it starts to give out. Years and years of a 9-5 job take their toll, and all it can take is for origin to fail sign in a couple times for someone to get pissed, jump in their car and speed+road rage their way to the store, putting everyone in danger.

Point 2: Microsoft and Sony are thinking about making their next consoles always-online. Microsoft and Sony can go fuck themselves, but neither microsoft nor sony are reading this point right now. They are, however, watching how much flak EA is catching. As are other companies. I bet you Ubisoft's had a memo go around, something along the lines of 'look at what EA are currently doing - do the opposite of everything you see them do.'

Oh right, they already won.

Is it too late for my Obama "hope" posters to help him win the election?

I don't know, I kind of agree with it. Is EA a bad company? Yes. Worse than those other ones mentioned? No. Not in the grander scheme of things anyway. Like they said, got to put things in perspective.
