Movie Trailers: Elysium

Paradox

Soaring Phoenix
In this topic, let's discuss upcoming films we are excited for. Post a trailer, a poster, a synopsis or just talk about what movies you want to see. Here's a few I'm eager for:

Pacific Rim
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

PACIFIC RIM stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Clifton Collins Jr., Ron Perlman, Rob Kazinsky and is set for release on July 12, 2013.

Star Trek Into Darkness
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Alice Eve, Peter Weller, Noel Clarke, and Benedict Cumberbatch opens May 17, 2013.

Evil Dead
In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

EVIL DEAD, starring Jane Levy and Shiloh Fernandez is slated for possessions and tree rape on April 13, 2013.

Pacific rim looks cool, and bad at the same time. Probably just be a feast for the eyes. The attempt at a motivational speech in the trailer was terrible. Will definitely watch though just for the effects.

star trek is my favorite movie in recent memory, and i hate star trek. i cannot freaking wait for into darkness

and lol at evil dead. part of me is intrigued, part of me is sick about how far they're pushing the gore these days, it's unnecessary. i remember the days when movies were scary, and not just shockingly gruesome. i'll probably watch it out of curiosity, but when the only reactions the movie gets from me is cringing from over the top violence, and i don't find the actual movie scary at all, i won't be surprised.

Evil Dead without Bruce Campbell? I mean I'll still watch it to see how it looks, but still would be better with Bruce Campbell.

Oblivion
Tom Cruise reminds the world that, yeah, okay, he may be a bit of a nut job, no one's perfect, but he still knows how to knock em out of the park at the box office. I don't know much about the movie but I'm down for more Tom Cruise.

He has another movie coming out this month that also looks interesting. dude's still got it. ...Ghost Protocol was fantastic...

Meh. I just can't get in to horror movies anymore. They've gotta have a sci-fi angle and there's not enough of this here.

Uhh, did you ever see Evil Dead? Super bloody and super scary, and this was all the way back in 1981! Anyways, the current crop of horror movies are far less gory than those of generations past. Ever sense the American remake of The Ring, PG-13 horror has become A Thing and now your typical horror movie is a bloodless Paranormal Activity/Exorcism of _____________ PG-13 movie, Aside from the occasional zombie flick and the "torture porn" genre (which mercifully died out as soon as suddenly it came to be) is a relatively tame affair.

But like Ugh said, Evil Dead without Bruce Campbell? What is this? I don't even

Riddick
Left for dead on a sun-scorched planet, Riddick finds himself up against an alien race of predators. Activating an emergency beacon alerts two ships: one carrying a new breed of mercenary, the other captained by a man from Riddick’s past.

Riddick, starring Vin Diesel, Karl Urban, Katee Sackhoff and Dave Bautista opens September 6, 2013.

And here's the newest trailer for
Oblivion
Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack's mission is nearly complete. Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Oblivion, staring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Melissa Leo, Zoe Bell, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau opens April 19, 2013

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
James Franco is out, Zero Dark Thirty star Jason Clarke is in. The sequel to 2011's Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) who takes over from Rupert Wyatt, "is set 15 years after the events of 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes. One focus is on the group of human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco. Another aspect of the story is the struggle of intelligent ape Caesar, played by a returning Andy Serkis, to maintain dominance over his kingdom." About the link early April Fools

Elysium
In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet's crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium - but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens' luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission - one that pits him against Elysium's Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces - but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.

If Neill Blomkamp directed a video of paint drying, I'd sit there and watch the primer and both coats.
