What say you on Romney's tax returns?
Plan on giving your sons a gift of $100 million dollars? Then plan on paying a 35% gift tax.

But Romney paid zero taxes when he gave his sons a gift of $100 million dollars. Blame a bad economy... that he did not pay taxes towards fixing.
Not 35%. Not even 1%. Zero percent.

At a tax rate of 13.9% Romney has a lower tax burden than a single worker. Now take into account that Romney made $20.9 million last year and $21.7 million in 2010, none from work wages, all from investments. Literally no sweat.

So an individual worker who makes $54,000 pays at 15%.
A married couple pays at the 25% rate.
Romney made $20,000,000 last year and paid 13.9%.

There's but one hope: vote Republican and become a millionaire yourself.
It's right there waiting for you, so why haven't you gone ahead and grabbed it?

Literally that stupid.

Hey, chris, so what? You could 'eat the rich' and it wouldn't pay for one year of current fiscal spending, let alone reduce what we owe. So it's pointless. You want to see the real greedy bastard not doing its job?

Get over your big union supporting self, who have given millions, more millions than Romney, to your precious democrat cronies.

Hell, they're all cronies. And there are plenty of leftist millionaires that avoid taxes too, like, uh:

Look, another Millionaire who didn't give it all away! maybe we can see his grades for once, eh?

This is all stupid. Politics, blech.

As long as the tax laws/codes stand the way they are, milllionaires are going to "use it", not to be confused with "take advantage of it". This is the way the tax code is written, they hire accountants who are trained so that they can keep their money. Wait, they pay people money to save themselves money? Keeping money in pocket knows no political affiliation. There are rich self-interested bastards on both sides of the aisle.

^yep. From union boss to presidential candidate to hedge fund manager, all shapes and sizes.

But who cares? The rich are nothing compared to the US government. Everything needs to be cut. Defense, Education, Homeland security, medicare, social security, all of it. We'd save trillions getting rid of useless and bloated bureaucrats, the scourge of any government.

I'm glad we're all okay with this. I won't even point a finger at the super PAC contributions made to the GOP presidential candidates. This way, no one will point a finger a the President's super PAC. Right? (Wrong).
But, if this is the way the game is played, okay. I want to see the right wing not attack Barack's super PAC when their own have spent $35 million thus far. That's the way the laws are written, so that's the game.

One of the problems that I see in the Republican primaries is these guys are so out of touch with the reality that the American people are going through that it's really quite amazing. We are seeing a middle class collapsing, we're seeing poverty increasing. We're seeing a nation in which the rich are getting richer and we have the most unequal distribution of wealth and income of any major country. Do they have one word to say on that issue?

We have 50 million people without any health insurance. We're the only country - major country on earth - that does not guarantee health care to every man, woman and child as a right. Do you know what their solution is? Cut Medicare, cut Medicaid. You got Social Security, the most successful government program in the history of our country. A program which has not resulted in one penny of deficit for this country, and do you know what they want to do? They want to cut Medicaid, they want to cut Social Security. They want to privatize these important programs. These guys are way, way out of touch from where the American people are and I think when you look at them issue by issue - tax breaks for the rich, cut Social Security, more money on defense spending - they are literally a fringe element in American society.

The way I see it, Ron Paul wants two things.

More rights for states, the way it should be. And less spending everywhere, which IMO, is the way it should be.

For me, that means Ron Paul will be getting my primary vote, even if it is a throw away. I don't really care for the rest of the Republican field, so come the actual election, I'll likely vote for Gary Johnson of the Libertarian party.

Politics killed our country.

Okay, let's break it down.

One: 50 million without healthcare: okay, this stat has gone up 3 million since the last data checkup, let's step back though. Of that 50 million, 12 million can afford to buy it but don't, because they feel they don't need it: Freedom of choice, baby. These stats count people in america, not just citizens. Roughly 8 million illegals are included in this stat. Then there are people between jobs (switching from one provide care to another, usually for a few months) and those that pay themselves; another 7 million. Congrats, we've carved 27 million from this stat alone; more than half. This info comes from the Census, look it up.

Chris, who provides jobs? me? you? No. The rich do. yes the rich have more money than all the rest, but guess what? take half of it away and give to the people, and they'll still be richer. Great way for us regular folks to earn our money. Also, about them being richer; we're way better off then our european counterparts because of this. Americans on average have bigger houses, cars, more stuff, and anything/everything at their fingertips. Even the average "poor" in america has the same if not more stuff than a middle class european.

Get over your hippie, leftist self. nothing the government does can ever be done right because they hold the ultimate monopoly, and can crush anything in its way with laws. Fuck that.

Get over yourself, you out of touch neo-con hillbilly.

Actually, don't. Continue down your path of failure, and make it easier for those of us without brain damage.

The rich make the jobs? Yeah, they take their job creation overseas in order to make a quick buck even quicker. I'm not buying that crap. America's a union, baby.

Why do all of your talking points circle back to a single xenophobic stance; seems like everything wrong with our country can be traced back to those sneaky-sneaksters... the illegals. They did it, it's their fault. Damn the war, it was the illegals. Damn the money wasted on Defense... Illegals!

And always just one year away from becoming the 1% yourself. Always one year away! Oh, darnit! Not this year...
But next year!

Keep fighting for those who don't give a fuck about you. Claim your prize and climb up that tax bracket, you are the next American Millionaire. You won. But as for your neighbors? Your friends and family? The infrastructure and general state of your city? Well, they all fucking lost. But you, you're the elite 1%. You are, right? You stand on the holy, evangelical side of politics. The war mongers, the racists and those who fight against helping the poor, sick and blind. What if God was one of us? You'd probably call him a leftist hippie and cut his medicaid. :( Why do you hate God, Eyebrows? My 4 year old daughter wanted to know. I told her because you were the 1%, and that you just did not care about anyone but yourself.

State of the Union tonight. Aww yeah! President's about to push tax change.

Power finish.

It's interesting to note that when you look back in history, it's the governments and societies that suffered from extreme income inequality, unequal distribution of wealth, and a consolidation of power towards the super rich that failed miserably.

And what do we have in the United States? All of those things. Hell, the median income for men has fallen in the last decade. People are becoming poorer and poorer, and somehow people think that the system is alright the way it is. You simply cannot have a functioning economy when a majority of the population barely makes enough money to live.

It's funny, I saw an article talking about a dinner Steve Jobs had with Obama before he died. At that dinner, the President asked him what it would take to get Apple products back to being made in the US. Steve Jobs essentially said it will never happen. Apparently, Jobs actually likes Chinese business and labor practices. Is he so stupid to realize that if people were working for 10 dollars a day, for 12 hours a day, and living in shitty housing at the factory like they do in China, nobody would be able to afford the shit his company produced? The fucking arrogance of rich people whose only concern is the bottom line.

Whatever the fuck happened to human compassion? Oh right, that doesn't matter to Republicans and Libertarians. They obscure it under the guise of "the freedom of choice." What a fucking joke. There's never been a party more fundamentally opposed to freedom than the Republican party.

State of the Union tonight. Aww yeah! President's about to push tax change.

Envy is a bitch eh chris. AND CURSE THE RICH! giving those oversea...FOREIGNERS! JOBS?! Xenophobic my ass, union boy. Look up davis bacon, look it up please, see the racism it's built on, see the bones of dead minorities the pillars of unionism is built upon. See the history of socialist states that damned the rich (like china and russia) and millions left dead and broken at their feet. History is not on your side. Only idiocy and doom. Also, you automatically assume I'm talking about minorities when it comes to lower income brackets. This is pure hogwash, no matter the color of your skin or the nation you're from you'll find poor people; it's always up to the individual to make it.

Hey chris, we've been helping the "poor sick and blind" since before LBJ's "Great Society" Guess what? STILL A LOT OF POOR, SICK, AND BLIND. It's only made it worse. You want to see jobs shipped overseas? Keep them taxes high baby. You're mentality, union idiocy, does not function in the globalized world. take a look at black unemployment and crime rates for example; it only got worse after FDR and LBJ. Try reading something like Race and Economics by walter williams, which clearly highlights this sort of shit you defend.

Also, the neo-con crap? just give up on it. labeling everyone a republican or a bush lover is so over and done with. Label me the 1% if you want, fine. but I'd rather be in with the 53% that pays taxes.

Libertarianism, ho!

This is a stupid statement, through and through. So making your own life choices is LESS free then having all your choices made for you/pushed into these choices. Wow.

Eyebrowsbv31 said:

I hate to break it to you, but this shows you're just as ignorant and stupid as you like to think the rest of us are. The percentage of Americans who pay taxes is much higher than 53%. In fact, it's probably just about 100%. That stupid statistic that Republicans like to pull out of their asses has to do with Federal Income Tax, and Federal Income Tax only. The fact is, most people don't make enough money to actually be taxed under the tax code as it currently stands. They're too fucking poor. But, it's not like they don't pay state taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, or the social security/medicare tax, which everyone who makes money pays for. So really, everyone pays taxes.

Eyebrowsbv31 said:

No man, it really isn't. People should have guaranteed access to healthcare if they would like to use it. Nobody makes you go to the doctor. Don't want to go to the doctor, don't go! But if you're the fucking toolbag who doesn't pay shit for insurance and then goes to the emergency room and makes my healthcare costs go up because hospitals are required to treat you, then fuck you. That's why health insurance can be mandated and should be.

Second, the idea that companies require no regulation is absolute shit. The idea that consumers will magically know about shitty corporate practices and avoid companies is a joke. The average American is barely smart enough to tie their fucking shoe. They are not going to be able to research that shit and figure it out. Really.

Second, if you have no regulators, or people checking on companies, how is anyone going to figure out what they do? Sure, maybe you really think that a company should have the freedom to dump toxic waste on whatever property it owns. But what about when that toxic waste gets into the water table and contaminates water for millions of people in the area? Is is just, well, sorry, sucks to be you? I mean, fuck that. If that's what complete freedom entails, fuck that. I don't want or need that much freedom. In a society based on greed, people are going to do whatever they can to make money, and if that involves killing innocent people, they're going to do it if they can get away with it. Economic Libertarianism is stupid because it will not work unless you assume that, A) companies won't be bad in the name of profit, and B) somehow consumers will know what companies are doing and won't buy from the bad ones.

The idea that consumers will simply avoid bad companies is just fucking dumb. The market does not make self adjustments easily. Self adjusting markets, and hands off regulatory policies only guarantee that when the economy "corrects" itself, it will be at a depression like level. Economic Libertarianism works as an idea when you have a non-globalized economy that isn't dominated by massive corporations that control huge portions of multiple industries. Sorry, that was 100 years ago. If a company like AIG were to simply fail, the economy reaction would be catastrophic, simply because that company is invested in so many areas of the economy. Literally nothing would be untouched. Having an economic policy like that, simply because "more freedom" is beyond retarded.

Second, sure the Republican party is all about freedom. Unless you look like you're from the middle east. Unless you don't speak english. Unless you look like you're hispanic. Unless you're gay. Unless you're a Christian fundamentalist. Unless you believe in women's rights. Unless you believe in equality between the sexes. Unless you believe anything that they don't believe.

That's the Republican party of today.

But hey, we've had this discussion on the GR forums a hundred fucking times. Nobody here is going to change their minds that easily. So why do we have these topics anymore? Just to breed resentment and hate between us? I'm sure that after Eyebrows reads this, he won't be so keen on chatting me up on steam anymore. But hey, I'm stressed about school and shit and my reply was a little harsh. Oh well, too bad.

And P.S. Eyebrows,

the article you keep sending me that talks about how old people tend to have more money than younger people: no shit. I'm not talking about income disparity between young and old. I'm talking about income disparity across class groups. Besides, no matter how old you are, on average, you're making less money than you were 10 years ago. That's how bad the distribution of wealth is in this country. You would think with inflation, wages would go up? That's not happening anymore. Why should we let rich people be the "job creators" when this is what they do to us?

But yeah, I'm done.
