The bestest sadest songs in the whole world.

Hey fellows, so lately I've been getting down with some sad music and I want to see if anyone has any good recommendations.

I dunno, this time of year is always cold, grey, damp, rainy and overall depressing... kinda like London (Kidding Mattay, kidding). So sad music just feels somehow good.

Recommend anything from scores

...whatever

Music for frowny days, you say?

The Smiths
Elliot Smith
The Shins
Travis
Pete Yorn

At least those are the artist's CDs I pop in.

I hope you're not actually feeling so sad... I know I can't handle any more sadness...

I'm not going to bother checking to see if any of my songs overlap with intoTheRain's, especially since he didn't bother to add in the titles of the songs he linked. And I guess Kapow is going to make fun of my music again, but oh well... Acknowledging that there are a bunch of different kinds of "sad":

I second anything by Sigur Rí³s. I also listen to anything by David Usher (sometimes in French with a pretty girl - Je Repars), some songs by Matthew Good Band (Running for Home), Deftones (sadsexy? - Change (in the House of Flies)), The Chemical Brothers? (The Pills Won't Help You Now), and umm... I guess any song can be sad. Wait for intoTheRain to post all the songs.

I personally prefer Cash's "Hurt" over the original but either way its a great sad song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmVAWKfJ ... ure=fvwrel

Also Smokey Robinson's "Tears of a Clown", an up-tempo sad song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2E_RSJAhYU

Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky" makes me sad cause my mom told me she wants it played at her funeral when she dies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPPlGFh6OpQ

Speaking of which, I want Warren Zevon's "Keep Me In Your Heart" played when I pass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMTKb-pgxGI
