It features activities such as lighting a candle holder with seven candles[1] and culminates in a feast and gift giving. It was created by Maulana Karenga and was first celebrated in 1966 - 1967.

I honestly think "African American" has always been a pretty stupid way of trying to be PC. Now everyone who doesn't want to sound racist calls a black person African American but not every black person's heritage is from Africa.

I have a friend who is from Barbados who hates the term. "I wish people would just call be black" he told me. "I'm not from Africa, and I don't know a damn thing about Kwanzaa" haha.
