Plotical thread: The lady will (maybe) be finaly free!

Because our aircraft carriers are mobile hospitals. We are the policemen and medics of the world. When there is a natural disaster in any part of the world, we're there. I didn't see the Aussie navy stepping up to combat pirates off of the coast of Africa. I didn't see much about Aussie relief efforts after the big tsunami a few years back.

Semi-socialist modern countries are to busy paying for pensions and putting down students whom revolt against the government not providing them with jobs.

I hate to be the big ol' flag waving American prick, but without US, there is no you. If we falter, the world falters. re-learned that two years ago. Thankfully China is moving into the role we are leaving behind. Imagine a world with Communists providing aid for disaster struck country.

America is done. We will turn into what Europe has been for the past half century and Japan for the last 2 decades. Hello stagnation! We can no longer call a spade a spade anymore. Sucks.

Reading the wiki on Burma is just sad. It continues to amazes me how in one hand we condemn the actions of the ruling government of Burma, yet allow, and even support, equally suppressive regimes in places like Palestine, China, Russian, most middle eastern and African countries. Bleh. There is no more freedom.

Well, to be fair, has there ever been true freedom ever for any group or country that has ever existed? Yes there is sovereignty, which the U.S does have along with many countries, but even then we are kinda shackled into our roles because of the events in the past.

Yes, i am very impress that the U.S has made such a huge impact in Burma politically wise... and not gun blazing for once! It's even the U.S who condemn the name "Myanmar" because the acceptance of the name is the acceptance of the junta regime. This is one of the few times I'm raising my thumb up for The U.S of As! But what still bothers me the most though is how the U.S government is willing to do anything to save Burma... but the U.S people have no idea what's going on over there! Can't they read the newspaper? ...oh wait... they don't...

Oh and.. like i said before, Burma is very unique in a sense that they do their job right (i.e torture the right people AND keep the economy stagnant) it's very hard to find a country similar to them. Though i do agree that China is way more repressive then Burma... huh... i don't think Russia (who kills journalist and torture their enemies), Palestine (who allow terrorist do their jobs) and "most" (seriously? most? :x don't be too cynical) middle eastern country and African countries are no where the same.
I mean really, you know what Burma do? They have a center where they read ANY mail that passes through the countries server (After passing a filter, of course) and can use that one mail about your love for kittens against you in court. And I'm serious about that. They have around 5000 people stationed all around the country who's job is to read your mail! Bye bye privacy!

Now... North Korea... that country's way worse! but that's another subject.

Now I do disagree with almost everything you have to say Eyebrows, but I agree with you on pretty much everything you had to say here.

I especially liked your point about China becoming the new US. To me its sad that we have to have 1 country in the world that clearly dominates all the others. The EU started to distort that idea, but after Germany's economic problems and the Euro falling, its not looking too good over there.

History just constantly repeats itself. I guarantee you could give me dozens of examples Eyebrows, where this EXACT situation happened years earlier, in most likely the same region (i.e south-eastern Asia).

As for my take on all this: I like Canada. We play hockey and smoke weed. It's good timez.

Essentially, a lot of hard choices are going to have to be made if a serious effort to reduce the government debt is going to occur. And in all honesty, the real places that cuts need to be made are the places nobody wants to touch - Healthcare, Social Security, and Defense - because those are the only parts of the budget that show significant growth each year. Neither party seems to be willing to suck it up and do that right now.
Why not cut healthcare down to a bare minimum to everyone over 65?
This would kill 2 birds with 1 stone, reducing the cost of health care and killing off resource using member os society that contribute nothing back.

Don't get me wrong, i don't WANT people over 65 to die. The problem is, they simply have to if we don't want to world to fall apart.

lol, yea the world won't fall apart if countries like the United States adopted ideas like this.
