That was a pretty short lifespan for some of the Wii games.

Some time ago I tried to check out how much players there were in games like Mario Kart, Tetris and Metroid Prime Hunters, but was stopped by their WPA incompatibility.

It seems it's now or never to re-live those experiences. Guess I have to find some workaround.

think this is being done to try and boost the Wii U? Force people offline on the Wii so they can come to the Wii U and enjoy netflix and the like?

Ah I didn't even think about Netflix.

But a 15 second google search reveals that this doesn't affect the Netflix app. This is pretty much only killing the multiplayer functions of Wii and DS games.
