It's a very low budget film. In fact, I bought it for $1 at Dollar Tree. For those who don't know what Dollar Tree is, it's a nationwide store in the U.S where everything they sell is $1. Anyways, I bought it since my dad mentioned about this when they were filming it in Beaver Falls, a couple miles away from where I live. He said he was an extra in it, so I wanted to see if I could spot him. I didn't see him, but I did see some of his other friends though.

The ending was pretty damn great. Wasn't expecting to be that. 7/10

The Force Awakens is pretty disappointing.
Special effects were meh, characters were flat, acting was at times just straight up bad.
Story is decent enough (it's literally a new hope), but the way it ends with such an obvious setup for the sequels pisses me off. Once again i find myself wanting to live in yahtzees world and imagine how things would be if sequels were banned, if every story had to have a clear opening and ending.

If you want my advice, don't watch any of the new star wars movies until they're all out, so you can enjoy the full story all at once.

You know what gets me? The number 1 thing people will say about this movie:
"At least it isn't the prequels"

    Now for delicious spoilers:
Han and Leia's kid is kylo ren (ben solo)
    Kills han at the end
    Rey is boring and overpowered
    Death Star XXL
R2D2 ain't done shit for the last few decades

Why am I not surprised int he slightest that Madster didn't like The Force Awakens?

I'll be seeing it tonight. I hope it's more in line with what the critics think as opposed to what Cranky Old Madster thinks. I do appreciate the spoiler tags though!

I still enjoyed it, i just expected more considering just how much money was dumped into this entire project.
Honestly, the lack of real good actors is just unacceptable when we start talking about billions.

In contrast to madster's opinion, I saw The Force Awakens last night and I absolutely loved it.

To me, this film captured the "magic" that the original trilogy gave back when I was a kid, and this is something the prequels failed to do.

While I use words like "amazing" and "incredible" to describe the film, it wasn't perfect as there were a few small things to nitpick at, but I will post about those in the actual Force Awakens thread we have on the forums, since that thread will contain spoilers.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I've seen all the movies. I've read comics, novels, played video games, I am very aware of the expanded universe... I think the film makers of The Force Awakens did a tremendously great job on this film.

4.5 out of 5, my favourite film of 2015.

Touching on your EU comment, without giving any spoilers, did they incorporate anything from the EU or take any influence from it that would be obvious?

I think so, Lethean. To me, I could see or feel links between the expanded universe and this new film. My guess is, maybe the writers took inspiration from the expanded universe, borrowing elements from it and then molding it into their own? That's how I interpreted it anyway.

I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'm really just parroting an article I read at litreactor a few days ago.

They didn't abolish the EU as so many cried out. They demoted it to the realm of legends. It leaves room for these stories to seep in however the writers want, without having to due the arduous job of checking continuity every time they put two words down on paper.

So has nobody else seen The Hateful Eight? I knew going in that it was going to be very long and very slow paced so I was avle to enjoy it a lot.

It also made me very uncomfortable watching the female prisoner get hit as well as the gratuitous use of the N word. But again, I was pretty sure that was going to happen going into the movie.

I just saw Hateful Eight. I loved it. LOVED IT.

See, I didn't mind that, because it was fitting. Daisy was established immediately as being a mean bastard, and the people who said "nigger" a lot were literally racist former Confederates.

Plus, it made Mannix and Warren coming together at the end feel so much better, because despite Mannix originally hating Warren for being black and Warren hating Mannix for being a Confederate (both have other reasons, but still), they die together as friends.

Being white you probably would be. That's where the term "uncomfortable whitey" came from. Nothing to be uncomfortable about.

You just have been high or drunk when going in. You're one of the typical Star Wars haters because it's not what you wanted. Acting was spot on, special effects weren't cheap ass CGI they WERE FUCKING PRACTICAL effects that no one does anymore. The movie felt like an original Star Wars movie, so you either love the prequels or hate the original movies.

Due to all the flying I've been doing for my holidays, I've watched a fair few movies... some seen before, some haven't.

Hitman: Agent 47 - Terrible. I couldn't stomach it. I stopped watching it after the first ten or fifteen minutes.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - Surprisingly pleasant. I enjoyed this movie!

Guardians of the Galaxy - One of my favourite movies. Love it every time.

007: Casino Royale - Same as GotG, love this movie too.

007: Skyfall - I really enjoy this movie. It's a lot better than the previous film, Quantum of Solace.

Jurassic World - This is a really fun movie to watch.

Furious Seven - Finally got around to watching the latest Fast and Furious. It's a fun film, but the story is dog shit stupid, so you really need to turn your brain off for this.

Run Fatboy Run - I like Simon Pegg's movies, so I enjoyed this one too.

The Lego Movie - As much as I enjoyed this movie the first time, I couldn't really be bothered to watch it again, so I stopped watching after the first ten minutes or so.
