    The Martian

Okay, this movie was probably the most stressful I've seen in ages, but man, words do not stress how much I liked it. It was pretty damn phenomenal.

Matt Damon does an amazing job, and while it's a movie it isn't exactly predictable.

I recommend avoiding all of the trailers and going to see it right now.

    4.9/5

You made me hop on YouTube to check out the soundtrack. I haven't seen the movie either, but you're right about the orchestration. The percussion really gives me a sense of some grand battle with metallic objects clanging about. This is the excerpt I listened to:

I really want to see this. I've been intrigued ever since Neil DeGrasse Tyson praised it on his "Star Talk Radio" program. I may actually go to the theater for this one.

Finally watched Moonrise Kingdom all the way through. It was great. Somewhat ridiculous as is to be expected but it wasn't as dark as some of his movies and it just worked.

    The Omen.

On a horror-themed movie kick right now...good times.

Just watched it and brothers, you ain't kidding. Tig ol' bitties aside, it was a good movie. A good beer and popcorn flick.

On my flights to Melbourne and back for PAX AUS, I watched a few films on my iPad. I re-watched The Avengers: Age of Ultron as well as Mad Max: Fury Road.

Avengers is a lot of fun to watch, although there are a few silly and questionable moments in it, even if it is a comic book film. It also feels very similar to the first movie, e.g. Avengers have issues, fight among each other, recover, unite as one to fight the big bad in the end. I still really like this movie and my two favourite things about this movie is the party scene as well as the introduction of The Vision.

Mad Max: Fury Road is to me, a film that never gets boring, somehow striking a perfect balance of action and story telling, never sacrificing the pacing. At this stage, it's my favourite film of 2015 but I hope this gets taken down in exchange for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

    Sin City.

Watched it on TV last night while having dinner after judo training.

The writing is super corny but I like some of the characters, in particular Marv. I like that whole... old school jazz music in the background, detective style narration. I also like how the movie's script and storyboard is literally ripped right out of the original graphic novel, with only minor changes.

The visuals have aged a bit, but they're still very slick and stylish.

I've heard the sequel is terrible though.

Watched two movies last night. Well, one whole movie and some of another movie.

My friends and I went out to the theater to watch The Hunger Games: The Mockingjay Part 2. I liked it. It was a lot better than Part 1. Although the romance between Katniss and Peta feels very forced. Kinda weird.

Later that night at home, my partner and I watched Coach Carter. Never seen it before but I really enjoyed it! It's a shame I couldn't watch all of it, but it was becoming way past my bed time. :p

I watched Disney's Alice in Wonderland. Subtitles are wondrous things.

Also, Sterling Holloway and Bill Thompson truly were two of the greats.

    "Michael B. Jordan"

That has to suck, but I definitely would watch.

Creed looks awesome. I'd like to see it.

Has anyone seen the new Bond film, Spectre? I'd like to see it but I've heard bad things.

Saw Van Helsing again last night on TV while having dinner. Such a fun, B grade action/horror flick.
