*Spoilers* Fallout 4 ps4 screenshots leak

These screenshots are from the ps4 version. I hope the PC version looks a lot better than this. What is missing on the ps4 version? Really good Ambient Occlusion?

$20 says modders are already working on higher res meshes and textures.
That baby could do with a complete overhaul, for example, and the desks texture is just straight up bad. Bobble head could do with a better mesh.

Aside from that, looks pretty good. Only bummer is the lack of anti-aliasing, but that won't be a problem on the PC.

They'll probably give us high res textures like skyrim and let the modders do the rest of the prettying, the inconsistent textures look to me like they had to optimize pretty heavily to get it running properly on the potato boxes.
 
One shot really stands out in the worst way possible:

Other shots, apparently from the same source, show shadows and dynamic lighting but that one is horrendous. There are no shadows at all. I'm guessing we're looking at some kind of glitch or performance issue because the other shots show a functional lighting model. The complete lack of LOD scaling similarly indicates a bug - other areas have much smoother scaling and show detail at greater distances.

Further the 'Spanish' set (the ones with the Spanish-language localized UI) almost uniformly shows massive amounts of gamma correction not seen in other shots. I can't be sure why but it definitely compromises both lighting effects and IQ to do that.
 
Yeah. I think the ps4 version without the day 1 patch may have had a lighting bug.

Cant wait to see what the game looks like at max settings and how well it runs on pc.
 
I can see shadows being cast by those trees all the way back in that first screenshot. I'm increasingly sure that one shot is some kind of delay/pop-in bug.
 
Yeah they are. I am not one of those people though. I simply love leaks and finding out information. Plus we all know what skyrim can look like after modding.


Now if we only had some benchmarks. Then we may have something to bicker about. :twisted:

Everything does look stylized in a cartoon kind of way. Everything looks like its made out of plastic. Still miles better than Fallout 3 or New Vegas (no mods)

It has been confirmed that this is a game you will need to force HBAO in.


Now I need to know if there will be a SLI profile at launch. The current one from Nvidia is just an empty placeholder.

Initial prettiness doesn't matter, strength/flexibility of the game engine does.
Providing it's essentially an upgraded skyrim engine, it'll become the best looking game so far made this time next year with 8K textures and delicious 60gb of extra content.

It's not like it's ugly as it is, just needs more AA options and high res texture pack, which i'm sure will come around the time of the first of the 10 updates they'll put out
