r video games getting too easy?. . .

i beat T.H.U.G. 1 and T.H.U.G. 2 in less then a week and i beat Tony Hawk's Ameican Wasteland in 3 days and the new game called Gun in 1 day i think there getting way too easy

Gun's story was 6 hours long only- to get 100% would take you much longer. And I am willing to bet you didn't beat all these games on their hardest difficulties.

But yes, as you get older games will get easier. Unless that game is Tetris.

I don't think it's exclusively to do with the player getting older. If you go back to the old skool games you can still see the difficulty in some of the buggers.

But at the same time I don't think that games have been getting progressively easier either, old games had to be stupidly difficult to make up for the lack of variety and actual length whereas newer games have far more freedom, they may not be difficult in the sense that you don't need infinite lives and a stack of Pro-Plus to complete but there's more to do and more to have fun with.

Besides, the examples you gave are notorious for having short stories. I mean, aside from Gun it's the same series so what do you expect?

Try and beat battletoads, then you'll be awesome.

Ah, Battletoads. What a great game that was.. I remember there was no save game feature in it so basically you had to play it through without turning off the power or hitting quick save button all the time which is the one reason why the recent games are so easy.
And now, they give you like 4 different difficulty selltings and ofcourse you end up choosing 'normal' or 'medium' only to discover that the game is mindnumbingly dull and easy. (COD2, FEAR, Quake 4). There should be no difficulty settings at all, so you have to accept the difficulty that the game makers developed. How about that?
And BTW I did beat Battletoads and it WAS pure hardcore gaming at its best. Great game, made me laugh and cry at the same time. :p

You seem to be providing examples of short games, not easy ones. and THUG took me long enough to beat and kept my interest for long enough. Maybe because I didn't sit on my ass and play nonstop, nigger.

I really doubt it. But atleast you acknowledge its existance.

I think that is my disadvantage- I don't have all day or all night or all afternoon for that matter to sit on my ass and game. These games that have 10 to 13 hour stories end up being months long for me because I am getting 3 hours a week tops to sit and unwind.

This weekend was an on-call weekend so all I have to do is sit and wait for the pager to go off- that is when I play most of my games :)

Dear God that was a hard game.

But if you're talking about video games back in the NES days, then those were harder because you couldn't save your game. If you die, then you go back to the beginning buddy.

I never got past the part in THUG 2 where you dress up as beaverhausen and beaver blast the construction workers! And im still stuck on the casino level of THAW! You, sir, are the best tony hawk player ever. Even better than my next-door neighbor, who taught me everything I know about being good at tony hawk games.

Games usually have levels of difficulty that you can set to fit your needs. I don't feel that games are getting to easy though, at least not the ones i play.

I'mma go head and /sign that.

And yes, things are getting easier. Plot and gameplay are being sacrificed at the cost of good graphics. That's just not right.

Hell, gimme a 16bit game with a great storyline, and I'd choose it over a next gen without one. Seriously.

Games to easy? Did you play Ninja Gaiden ot THPS 4?
so ur sayin uv been playin halo2 for 4 days and still havnt beat it hahahahaha sry to say but thats pitiful i meen i had it on normal and beat it in 2 days!!!!

Games aren't necessarily easier now a days, people today just have way to much time on their hands to sit there and play it all in one day. Go hang out with your friends or something.

P.S. - Both T.H.U.G. games were extremely easy.
