I have an HD compatible widescreen TV, but don't actually have the HD cable (yet). When I set up the PS3, do I need to get additional cables for HD gaming or what?

As far as I know, the Playstation 3 will come with the HD component cables.

I'd spend the cash on some HDMI or something however.

Comes with cables

Both models come with cables.

First the PS3 comes with an av cable. These cables can't run in HD so you do have to buy an HDMI cable to view in HD. When your shopping for an HDMI cable don't buy the very expensive ones! The cheaper ones work just as good as the name brand! At most i say one spend $20.
