I just finished playing Assassin's Creed 3 and I must say my favorite part of the game where the ship battles. The fact that you were directing your ship from the inside, being able to see the waves crash on the ship and the cannonballs damage your deck (and you!) was freaking awesome.

The sad thing is that this is the best old time naval combat gameplay I have experienced ever. Are there any sort of naval/pirate games that have ship battles that have the same feel of the ones in AC3?

Not that many naval combat games, unfortunately, unless you want modern (read: WW1 and up) full blown simulators.

Apparently the actual ship to ship battles in the Pirates of the Caribbean PC game are pretty good, and Age of Sail 1/2 exist.

Age of Pirates but they're pretty buggy. There's an older game called Sea Dogs that was made by the same company.

There's also that MMO called "Pirates of the Burning Sea". Besides, aren't Ubisoft making a full on AC pirate game?
