DSi or 3DS

The local store is having a closing out sale, I can save $40 on a DSi XL and was considering getting 2 of them for my kids for Christmas.

Then I thought "I wonder if those DSi's are even worth purchasing for $100 each after savings"..

Any thoughts?

Buy freaking everything. Otherwise, you can't win.

I'm sure your kids will be okay with whatever, though. So just consider the price of games. Also, if you're going to be playing them yourself.

Do they already have a DS? If so, don't bother with a DSi.

They don't have a handheld gaming system.

Have the Xbox and still debating buying them handhelds.

Only 6 and 4. It's a good age to get them into it though.

Alright, then just get them whatever it is that's cheapest. DSi plays all DS games, and that's where the best games for their age range would be.

Yeah, DS is a great platform for children that age just starting out. And like Longo said, the library is dropping in price everyday.

3DS

In about a year or so the DSi will be really cheap because the system line will be essentially dead. You can afford it later for a much cheaper price.
