Nah, not really, but what do you chaps think of the recent late night spat?

Personally, I'm hoping CBS casts off Letterman for "hiking the Appalachian trail" with his intern and snags Conan as his successor to reprise the Letterman/Leno duel that followed Johnny Carson's departure from the Tonight Show.

Letterman can be the one to go to FOX.
 
I feel bad for Conan...NBC has put him in a few impossible situations now. I really enjoyed Conan's show when he was on at 12:35, but i honestly haven't watched much since he took over the Tonight Show. I think he is a funny dude, and i hope he is a success if he does switch networks because i would hate to see him fade away into obscurity if he switches networks and can't find an audience.
 
Has the show format changed at all or was it basically a name change and a position change? I haven't seen the Tonight Show since he took over either.
 
its the same format...just toned down. I don't think Conan is quite as free to take the risks with some of his bits that he was able to at 12:35 when only college kids are watching. I still think he is funny on the Tonight Show just not quite as silly, which depending on your sense of humor is good or bad i suppose.
 
I also think that since there really hasn't been any word from Conan about this whole thing he must be trying to get a deal done with another network which would be really complicated and would take some time. I think if he was okay with moving to 12:05 and continuing with The Tonight Show we would have word about that today.
 
CBS' loyalties lie with Letterman, so that's just not gonna happen. Letterman put them on the late night map and there's no way they're going to take the NBC-GTFO route now.

Conan can do the same at FOX. Since FOX and Conan both skew a younger audience, you could say it's a perfect fit. But three late night shows airing at the same time is a problem. Also, with LA and New York represented, where would Conan's late night show shoot? Chicago? ehh.. ew

This is all because NBC moved Conan up too quickly. They couldn't have been sure of the change at the time, and now they're left screwing another late night talent. Watch out, Jimmy Fallon.

If anything, boot Ferguson for Conan. Sry to those 2 Ferguson fans out there. (jk he's okay)

Fuck you (jk, only in the butt). Ferguson is far more talented than Fallon, but I agree, all this plan really did was screw NBC more and Conan. If Conan is smart, he'll jump ship now. He could take a shot at ABC or Fox.

Or Comedy Central gets a third live show starring Conan. It already has his target audience.
 
Unless NBC is looking to make him happy despite all of this, I be he'll take himself to a new company. I mean, really? Less than a year with average ratings for a new show for Conan while Leno drops? And ultimately, all of this is just to coddle Leno? Make him a recurring guest or fixture for Conan. Jay can do his interview America stuff for 15 minutes a show. As much as I lement the skits he can't do, my wife says that for the first time in her life she actually enjoys Conan. But hey, what do I know? I just watch TV.
 
From what I have been reading they plan to move Leno back to his old spot and move everyone back an hour after the Olympics are done. Then there are giving the Carlson Daily show the "he will always be part of the NBC family but don't let the door hit your ass on the way out scheme" FTW. This switch is kind of good for CoCo though since then he won't have to appeal to the AARP crowd and classics like the Masterbating Bear can return . Still Conan is getting a raw end of a broom handle in the ass but I hope he just takes it because Fox will fuck his career harder then any well hung porn star.

Ideally though l NBC would publicly cancel Jimmy Fallon late then start another one after Conan which would follow Fallon once he is homeless and having to give BJs for food and drugs.... That would make a great summary piece of Fallon's entire career from SNL to now.
 
^one correction from your post...They are moving Jay back to 11:30 but his show will only be a half-hour and then Conan's Tonight Show would start at 12:00am at the same time as Kimmel. So everyone would be pushed back a half hour instead of an hour. NBC is hoping that Conan just cares about the title of Tonight Show host and not what time it starts. As i read somewhere else...Nice time to start The Tonight Show when its no longer tonight.
 
I'm glad they put andy back on the couch. I only watch Conan for the comedy, I hate the interviews.

Craig Fergeson is the best thing going in late night right now, however.
 
Conan is and has been the best in late night comedy. I don't care what the title says, it's still Conan who makes it funny.

How many others can say they wrote for The Simpsons in it's prime?

As for his interviewing skills he has a way of making the lamest people more watchable then anyone else on late night. Also he is able to make it funny without being an ass like Letterman.

Well, its not "tonight" for people in the Eastern time zone...but for the other 3/4's of the country it is.
 
Well...you are fucking stupid because the show still wouldn't air until 12:05am local time on the west coast. So basically that joke works for 2/3 of the population. If you are going to point out the flaws of a flip joke...at least do it right instead of looking like a dolt.

on topic,Conan did a great job of coming right out and making fun of the whole situation tonight.
 
Yes, I was incorrect about the Pacific timezone...I was so catastrophically off base that you should fly into a murderous rage over it.
