Bitches, I hate hospitals

Icepick

Rookie
So after 4 and a half hours today I'm out of surgery, every excruciating minute of it sucked, right up until they started giving me meds, than I felt as if I was in a Beatles music video

Anyone else got any worthwhile tales about visits to the doctors?

Sitting in a waiting room for over an hour with hives.

Getting a cluster headache alone at home, calling up mom, says she won't do anything about it, calling 911, 3 guys show up expecting you had severely injured your head, then they rush you to the hospital, and the doctor puts you in a bed, hooks you up to an IV and you just have to wait for the pain to stop. THEN, your physician tells you something's wrong and you should go to a specialist, and the specialist says he thinks nothing is wrong.

FFFFFFFFF--

sweet I' halfway there, waiting for the specialist to contact me as we speak

Wait times in hospitals are ridiculous. I hate how Michael Moore makes it look like Canada lives in a perfect utopia where visiting the hospital is as quick as ordering fast food.

ive been to the hospital like 8 times since I left home to college.. (7 years ago?)

two of them were revisits because I'd waited 5-6+ hours and still didn't get in and gave up and went home

every other time i waited 5 hours.

i've never got in in less than 5 hours. and they weren't me having a little cough and thinking i had the flu or something. i've broken a lot of things, had lung infections, severely cut a lot of things

i actually didnt have to wait long to see the doc, it just took him 2 hours to figure out wft to do

...and I essentially had my bed in the supplies room

am i missing the part where you told us what happened?

I had several lumps underneath my arm pit, that would push out through the skin and drain, but the lumps underneath were rock solid, been dealing with it for 3-4 months, to no avail, and the pain last night was so bad I said fuck it and went to emerg

I've been in a hospital twice in my life. One is when my mom was pregnant and gave birth to my sister when I was a kid and second was when I had to go in for a surgery. I'd like to avoid them whenever possible since my friend's dad died from either a botched surgery or negligent after care.

Last month I had an allergic reaction to a couple pain medication they prescribed to me. That was the worst week of my life, I broke out in hives and rashes. After that they told me to take one to see which one I'm allergic to. I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Icepick, was the lumps under your armpit cysts?

they said they were like cysts, thats all I got out of em before they put me under, they wernt like tumors or anything though

The only time I've ever gone to the hospital because of something that happened to me was when I cut my leg open. I was carrying in groceries and a bag with a bottle of champagne broke open.

Had to get like 16 stitches, but they got me in and out in like an hour. So that was nice.

Never been to the hospital except to see my mom after her hip replacement surgery. My shoulder surgery was done at an outpatient facility.

Never had to go to an emergency room either. Nothing that serious. For most of my injuries, I've just gone to Group Health's urgent care facility, which stays open pretty late. You go there, and they can pretty much take care of you unless you need emergency surgery, at which point they'd just take you to the hospital anyways.

It's nice having your insurance through a co-op company that pays its doctors on a salary rather than on how many tests and drugs they can prescribe to you, and also has its own medical staff and facilities.

Would you rather pay for your health care or deal with retarded health insurance?

Is there anyone who hasnt been to hospital? Kinda funny how everyone has experienced a hospital visit in their life. Makes me think of my 3 year old neice, when will it be her time?!

I've been to hospital once, I jumped off a climbing frame from too high up and jarred my thigh bone into my hip bone when I was about 8 years old. The treatment was to have my leg raised in a stirrup for 3 days whilst I watched He-Man and Biker Mice from Mars - so nice memories really.

the only time thats awesome to get injured is when you're a kid, as an adult all you do is freak out over lost wages and pain

as a kid you get to stay home, I got a nasty concussion when i was a kid, my dad gave me his entire series collection of duckman on VHS, spent all night watching that as I wasn't suppose to sleep for long periods of time

I to this day blame those two days for turning me into a foul mouthed asshole

man ive been to the hospital SO many times, and i HATE hospitals and come up with any reason not to go.

one time i near cut my finger off and refused to go but the gf eventually made me.

dislocated leg, broken ankle, lung infection x3, had to just chill and get oxygen then antibiotics, scary though cause i couldn't breathe (i'm very susceptible to them for some reason), thought i had appendicitis, but ended up being a hernia

thats 6 in the past few years, and 2 of the times, the dislocated leg, and one of the lung infections i ended up going home before i was seen and went back the next day.

regretted it with the leg, most pain ever. wasn't bad the first few hours because of the adrenaline, but my god after, my leg was literally 3x the size of the other leg top to bottom. having to go back the next day was bruuuuutalll, so wished i'd finished the wait off.

Hell no. I just remember watching Sicko and hearing Canadians brag about how they all see a doctor in under an hour. How nice of Moore to represent the 2nd largest country in the world by visiting one of the smallest towns in all of Canada. I appreciate his love for Canada but he didn't have to exaggerate to the point of bull shit.

Anyway, there's just something about hospitals that creep me out. While waiting in them I start to think about all the people in there. From people with mental health issues to people in surgery to women giving birth to elderly on their death bed.

Not to defend sicko, but it's close to impossible to get a doctor's appointment in under an hour in a small town in California... And knowing you gotta fork up more then 500 bucks in the end doesn't help. Sicko may be an exaggeration, but let me tell ya, even if moor had shown the real horrid raw deal of the healthcare in France and in Canada, it would still be heaven compared to here.

A couple weeks ago the cab driver called me an ambulance to hospital coz i was beyond drunk, my phone fell out of my pocket in the cab so i couldnt remember anyones number or couldnt call anyone, my friends filed a police report.. They had no idea where i was. Hospital sent me home but it was so far from my house and i was still so ill so i slept in the lobby. Woke up at 2am to book a cab but they wouldnt take me home because i had no money on me, even tho i said i could get from inside my house. So i walked home. 1 1/2 hours walking. Worst experience of my life. But i survived to tell the tale. And i am drunk as we speak.
