In case you don't know, Fair Use is a law that enables people to review, cover, or parody media that doesn't belong to them, without the need for consent or royalties to the copyright holder. This law is constantly being broken on YouTube, not by the content creators who abide by it, but by the corporations who consistently issue strikes and take-downs against channels who are well within their rights, and YouTube refuses to properly police this unlawful activity.

So, if you have ever watched a review, song cover, coverage video, top _ list, parody, gameplay video, or original video that featured a short clip from a movie or song, then you have Fair Use to thank.

Make the future not suck. Please stop unjust copyright laws from being passed.

No point trying now, youtube has been complete shit for the last few years and it's very clear that google doesn't actually care because they don't make a profit on it.

I'm a supporter of the idea Cr1t has been working on: PornHub. They actually make money on their service and already have the server power to make it work.
If they made a separate SFW version and enticed a few of the top youtubers (who are also tired of youtubes shit) over, it might actually make an actual competition and force youtube to pick their fucking game up.

It doesn't help that they're being stupid about how to make money. Red was a flop and their server costs keep going up because they allow anybody to upload anything - make the videos a max length of 30 minutes, and stop offering so many video options. 1080p@60 and 4K can be limited to 15 minutes, 720p@60 can be an option with 720 for people with shit connections, also saving youtube bandwidth and therefore money.
Their costs are ridiculous and as such they don't want spend any effort on it, and this includes making sure it actually works with the shithouse copywrite system properly.
It's google. They have enough power to tell companies to fuck right off and do what they want, but they're not actually doing it because that hassle is all for a service that at the end of the day, they don't really want.

Yeah, YouTube is a huge mess, unfortunately. I'd love to try and be involved in YouTube, but one, I am lazy, and two, the only people who seem to get ahead are those that follow controversial trends. I realize that's not always the case.
