Gaming headsets are shit, you're much better off both quality and money wise buying a decent pair of headphones and a clip-on mic.

The only exception to this (for a non-absurd price) are the Audio-Technica ATH-AG1, because they're essentially the M50/X (quite possibly the most highly regarded headphones ever made) with a mic slapped on and some shiny paint.

I'd trust corsair to not make shit, but they won't be as good as doing it properly.

Don't even touch skull candy, razer, etc. They're $20 headphones with a $5 mic and $.50 'GAMING' sticker selling for $200.

Madster's right, good music headphones with either a clip on mic or desktop mic will destroy a gaming headset.

Yup. I used to own a pair of Sennheisers; best headset I've ever had. I left them in a lab when I was in school and they were snatched up before I realized they were missing.

@studioTan sorry about your loss brother I wish you a new pair......now I know what you are talking about.... I'm a musician myself and I love the straight sound of a great headset.....I read tha the Creative’s Sound Blaster has an external sound card witch comes to my ears as the sweet little brutal sound of an electric guitar....if you know what I mean.....and people said that they respond greatly at any use either is music gaming or even watching a movie....I'm gonna check right away the pair madster suggested and I am gonna post my opinion and since we ended at the sound industry I have an awesome love for eddifiers if you don't know them just go check them out it is worth it

Ok so I read it and I read also reviews and many people complained about it being annoying at the positionioning and that it always slipped downwards in order to rest on the ears.....they also complained about the cord issue witch either was to small or it wouldn't reach the USB amplifier in the back of the tower so they had to use the extension with lead to sound downgrade.....I'm a lover of the sound so I hate downgrading it....I never use extensions.....I will have to listen and compare them with the Creative’s or with a pair of eddifiers and if the sound is worth it then fucking the cable issue I will find a solution..... Well that's from me.....I'm waiting for your reply thnx

Yea, headphones with a pre-amplifier is always the best choice. Given that electric guitars are high-impedance instruments, they're generally going to sound weak and noisy in the mix without all the little tricks used by the recording engineer (things like panning instruments around the stereo spectrum, doubling instruments, or plugging a guitar directly into the console via DI box and using software to recreate the sound of a vintage amplifier).

This is why a good headphone with a pre-amp is important. It enables you to hear all these subtle nuances with a type of clarity you probably never heard before on your stereo system.

Of course, a good engineer will create a mix that will sound good even on average devices like your TV or basic car stereo. In some cases, and especially with video games and movies, there will be several mixes available to choose from based on your sound system.

It becomes clear why audiophiles continue to collect vinyl records. They will never touch anything in MP3 or other digital format. They always say that an analogue signal has a "warmth" that still cannot be recreated on a digital medium, and they're right. One of the only reasons vacuum tubes are still being manufactured is for sound reproduction. Nothing beats an analogue audio signal.

@Sotirakis22 This is a matter of personal taste. I like Razer as I like Apple. You don't like Razer, so maybe you like Android :D

I think any headphone of Sony product have very good sound but I am not sure it would support in all the mobile versions too. But For PC JBL is much better.
